Sup guys, I have a subaru impreza 2.5i that I made a mistake buying on last year for 15k, I wanted to get a stick and a wrx but even though I was paying for it, my parents were the one cosigning it, so they wouldnt let me get a stick. I was also pretty dumb and 16 at the time and had no knowledge about cars and i just was in a rush because school was starting the next day.. Anyways so I bought an 07 suby 2.5i and its an amazing car, except i cant stand the shitty interior or the slowness.

I know a good amount about cars now, well especially about subarus, but its time to sell the car.

Here it is (im not allowed to post pics .. can someone please post them in their post? )

I have STi suspension on there with tanabe gf210 springs, borla headers, stromung catback, and all that other exterior crap. I was planning on doing AutoX but since im selling the car im not gonna bother. It handles like a beast. I cant turbo the car because if i do i can only run under 8psi or else ill blow up the internals, and swapping it would cost too much money. All of the work was done by myself.

I got a better job now and better income, so I can handle payments. I owe 7k on the car and am selling it for 12500, and I have a buyer he was interested-- basically i was gonna sell it to him for 5500 + he takes my payments over.

I want to get a car that is quick, or has the potential to be quick, and has a nice interior, and is reliable. Im gonna be driving to college and high school and work (I started college early, still got another year of HS), so the car cant have much downtime.

I thought about these cars, im looking to spend UNDER 14k
S2k (My oldest brother has one, i love them)
GTi
3 Series BMW or e36 M3
300zx
350z
SC300
240sx is one of my fav cars except I wouldnt be able to handle the downtime

So basically I came on here to ask you guys, how reliable are 3 series/ e36 m3's? What mileage range should I be looking for If i was gonna get the car?

Oh and i forgot to say, my brother used to have an e36 Alpine white M3 for a few months until he wrecked it lol, you guys probably remember his post on the forum, it was a beautiful car ( then he got a WRX). Here was his car

Hey, I'm 20 now, and looking back at all of it I should have just kept my first car. (318) There will always be someone faster. As of right now you have a reliable car that you can drive. Getting into any BMW will cost you. I spent 3K on my current 325i, and I have more than rebought the car in the last year in repairs. Do you know what it feels like bumming a ride to class? as little wayne said " I got the key to sucess, get money invest." NOT IN AUTOS lol.

Head over to the E36 M3 section, and read the stickies. It's a topic that has been covered numerous times.

Yeah the only reason i start putting money into my car was because whenever i brought up getting a new car my parents said fuck off and so i was like damn im gona be stuck with this i might as well mod it. Then until recently, my parents were like go ahead and so im like fuuuu why didnt you tell me this earlier

Wait, you are only 17, right? Or did I miss something.

I would not recommend getting a car that is worth anything near $14k at that age. Perhaps get an E36 (not an M3), you can find them for under $6k.

True, I just dont want to spend more money on repairs than if I get a newer car (s2k or 350z or etc). The thing about subaru insurance in my area, is that its more expensive than anything, my 2.5i was more expensive than a god damn e46 m3. 300$ a month for a non turbo, safe, AWD, car...

:rofl

If you get an M3, you will be spending a lot on maintenance.

Don't get an M3 as your first car at 17. Chances are you'll wreck it. They have a lot of power in a small package. Learn to drive (well) a lesser car first.

haha well power isnt an issue (unless it was like 350whp+++), I drive my brothers wrx, my other brothers s2000 (which has no power), and I autocrossed my friends STi. So im used to power, M3 is slower than a stock wrx -- like I said we used to have an e36 M3.

And you didnt read my OP, this isnt my first car, im selling my suby that ive had for over a year.

Ok guys I decided to get an MR2, what do you guys think?

Yes, keep the Subi and be happy for a while. Why burden yourself with more debt at such a young age. Trust me, you'll thank us for this advice a few years down the road.

I would NOT suggest you buy a BMW. Keep your car and enjoy school, girls and getting in trouble.

That this is a BMW forum...:shifty

What Generation MR2? The second generation are fun, if a little tail happy when push comes to shove.

2nd Gen MR2 and im buying it so i dont burden myself in debt. Im paying all this bs for my suby (200 for car payments 300$ for insurance) and its getting tiring.

Go for a 240sx! :)
They're cheap, reliable, and fun.
I have an e46 and a modified 240sx, and i would much rather ride on my 240 than the e46.
Save the cash for later.

You could get a fleet of Supra's for $15K. There's several on ebay for under $3K, and some with turbos for a tad more. My boy picked up an '84 for $1k about a year ago. Pretty fast car too - 2.8 DOHC, rear wheel drive, 5 speed.

I hear that, the older Supras are very strong, and inexpensive, and powerful.

That's why I made my recommendation. I dont like tin cans for protection.
