Ive had the ddm tuning apexcone exhaust for quite a while now and my dad keeps complaining that its way too loud in the inside. I think its loud on the inside but not unbearable. My question is, is it normal for it to be loud on the inside and on the outside or are exhaust designed to be quiter on the inside and loud on the outside? I think it sounds amazing but im just not sure how loud the inside should be?? Also how can I get my car to sound even more amazing? Im looking into a cold air intake but not sure which one to get. thanks

i think you should barely be able to hear it from the inside. Just the throaty i6 revving. A good way for better sound is debaffle your stock airbox and take off the snorkle. I just did that today and it sounds pretty good for a free mod.

So somethings probably not right with my exhaust then... it doesnt sound bad, it actually sounds good.. its just loud. and how do i debaffle it? I might have to do it

Thats how i think one should sound. Ive driven others that are unbearably loud on the inside. To debaffle your airbox, take out the filter and there will be a black rectangle piece with a black clip holding it in, remove that and the snorkle coming from the front end of the car into the airbox.

I debaffled my stock airbox awhile back and it sounded alittle better but not much of a difference. Theres a thread on here somewhere for it. To really wake up your engine for better sound just make a CAI yourself instead of buying one for like 250$ or more. I modeled like the dinan CAI going down behind the drivers fog light. Just buy a cone filter from any autoparts store and some pipeing. I had a local shop weld up some scrap pipe and they charged me like 30 bucks. Make sure to drill a hole for your air temp sensor as well.

I bet he is talking about the drone
the ddm exhaust probably has a drone to it...some exhausts do and some don't....nothing you can really do about it

yep thats exactly what it is. Is it supposed to be like that? or is it just a personal preference thing? My dad says theres something wrong with it for being loud inside my car but I say its supposed to be like that.

the only thing that could be wrong with it is if there is an exhaust leak, other wise its just the type of exhaust. Nothing you can really do except buy a different one

Yep. If there is an exhaust leak at the flanges, it would be much louder on the inside. You may want to check how tight the mounting bolts are just to make sure there isn't a small gap. I just got the UUC System U and it's MUCH louder on the inside. It's just a characteristic of some exhausts.

I think i might have a little leak because if i gas it at about 3700 rpm's it kinda hums a little bit... but you can barely notice it. I prefer it being loud on the inside... but its not too loud to where you cant have a conversation or listen to some tunes.

really? I don't find my system U to be loud at all on the inside...kinda wish it was a little louder :shifty

I'm talking about the sound being louder compared to the OEM muffler I removed. The only time it's really loud inside though, is under load from ~1500- 2000.

Hey ross22davis, mind putting up a video of your exhaust...I'm thinking of the same exhaust too but don't know yet...If you don't mind putting up some vid revving and driving..I know theres a vid on DDM's site but i want to hear more from a couple different car to get a better idea of how it sounds...

ill record another one later on but this is all i could do for now. The mic on my laptop isnt the greatest so it sounds a little better in person (less raspy). It sounds great in my opinion though.
