Hey All,
I've searched the forums for anything to do with replacing the ABS control module in a 96(build date 12/95) 328i vert. The Bently manual, and everything else i've read claims its behind the glove box. Well, glove box is out and i can't seem to find it.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of information on replacing this piece.
I purchased an ABS control module on eBay that was pulled out of a 95 325. (can't post link too new)
I took it to my mechanic, and he pulled the glove box out, and told me the control module i purchased was the wrong one. I did a search on realoem com for the part number for my car, used that on pelican parts and found an ABS control module that fits both a 95 325 (the one i purchased came out of) and my 96 328i vert covering the build date my car falls into.
I'm stumped. Can't find the damn thing to even figure out if it is compatible.
anyone have any thoughts or can point in the right direction?
Thanks,

Its clearly marked ABS/ASC-T on the label. It is definately behind the glove box. Behind the glove box is a stack of modules. They are stacked one on top of the other. Just to the right of these is a module that is all by itself. It should be silver.

Yeah, i have the replacement module so i know what it looks like. the Bentlly manual i have says thats where it should be as well. Its not there. The Car alarm system is shoved in that section instead.
I would take pics and post them, but i'm not allowed and i cant link to a photobucket.

I have an ABS non-ASC control module for sale.
It's located behind the glovebox in the far right. It's the silver thing that's attached from the top in the far right of this picture.

could you possibly send a picture that includes the module?
He has a wiring harness labeled something like 'ABS Cabrio' in that area. we followed the wires and could not find a connector that links up to anything like the ABS control module.
This is what was ordered:

can't find this anywhere..

You can't tell me that it's not in that first picture I posted.
The one I have was specifically for cars from 08/1994 through 09/1996 without ASC. This one's for sale by the way, if any of you need it.

Ah HA! I totally have that, I ordered the wrong part it seems. I couldn't read the label on it because of its position.
How much for yours?

What the hell.
There are apparently two distinct parts.
This is either some kind of wacko model switch they did for e36's or there is both a controller and a computer.

Your link didnt work.
There are several different versions of the ABS module depending on what year you have. Its not a wacko switch. Germans don't do "WACKO". Trust me on that one.

Sorry, the one I had in my M3 doesn't look anything like that.

Yeah we cannot find the harness that hooks up to this damn thing.
by wacko model switch i mean something like switching parts mid-year, etc.
not uncommon for german car companies.
