I'm onw one of those guys in a Tahoe with gigantor chrome rims... but it sure is luxurious and very very nice... picked up an `03 today.
And to be honest, other than the handling and braking, I like it MORE than the e34...

got everything I wanted but quad captains chairs.

2wd, 5.3 w/ tow package (bigger rad and trans cooler, class 3 hitch + trailer wiring), leather, dual a/c (full digital automatic + tri zone), roof rack, full power and heated seats (bottoms , recline and air lumbar+ bolster),
7 person seat config... (buckets front /3 person split bench middle/ 50-50 split bench rear) memory seats, mirrors, and radio.

Digital rear air controls + digital rear entertainment controls on center console, Full controls on steering wheel, Driver Info Center (think OBC dash display), Moonroof,Electrochromatic mirrors, tinted windows & found at least 4-5 12v outlets so far... Billet grill, debadged, Colormatched trim (door handles, fender trim, door trim)

Aftermarket DVD+ screen integrated into the 6 disc head BLOSE system+ underseat set up for PS2 thick as second video source.

Big blingy wheels (sadly, chrome 22's are not my cup of tea), I may swap for OEM 20's...
or
De-chrome and PC these in matte black AND have the speedo corrected for em.

(i was doing 53 indicated and passing people like mad in a 60 mph zone, + the 2wd `Hoe is taller than my neighbors's 99 Dodge ram 4x4 on em.)

Has 86k on it, but honestly interior looks like it has 15k, and exterior is almost as nice. I think I'll do my first mod in the am.

:)

Anyway I would have posted this in e34 Ot but I guess that is gone... & i don;t/won't go to the regular OT.

So what's the point? If you don't take it off road, obviously not since it's 2WD, why have one? You're like every other soccer mom who buys a big SUV for no purpose.

So your complaint is that I must be a poseur because I chose a 2wd for better mileage and reliability... and I chose a tahoe instead of a Suburban because I donlt need anthing THAT big?

wow... really?

Grow up.

1: it has a lot more room, is a lot more comfortable, and seats 7.
2: it can tow the camping trailer, the utility trailer, and anything else I want.
3: I wouldn't take a tahoe off road, so I intelligently bought the 2wd...

Personally i dont see him choosing a tahoe over a touring any different that you choosing to own an impusle, 90% of the people on this forum would never, but does that mean we all get to jump on your case because we dont agree with your taste in cars? Thanks

Our family has had two Suburbans, 95 and 02. The 95 was a tank, a true truck. We put 200k miles on it in a few years because of long commutes to school, and went through a three transmissions. The build quality on the 02 is noticeably nicer. The interior is surprisingly nice, and nothing on the car is falling apart except for a common problem with the steering column or something (~100k miles, so far.) Besides changing fluids, I think the only thing to have gone on the car are the tires. Very impressive.

I would never DD one though. The feeling when you push the pedal down is horrible. All of that gas totally wasted. I can't justify driving it unless I am hauling something that absolutely will not fit in the other cars or I have more than 5 people. It is a ridiculous machine unless you make use of all the seating, hauling, or towing capabilities on a regular basis.

Being an M30 driver, it might be somewhat hypocritical looking down on daily driving these SUVs, but when I am giving it gas at 4k RPM I am smilling in the 535i and crying in the Suburban.

Good choice! My family had the minivan vs. SUV choice a while back, and they went with the van. Honestly... the van holds as many people, but not nearly as comfortably, cost about the same, and can't haul anywhere NEAR as much trailer. I'm not saying van's are bad(I still love ours), but for certain people there is a definite need for the SUV, and for others there isn't! And the ones that can't justify it, those are the ones that should probably end up with the van. And from the sounds of it, if you'd bought a van, you'd need to buy a truck too, to haul the trailers.

BTW, people bagging on minivans don't have kids or have never owned one. My wife's Sienna is the most useful vehicle I've ever owned, and loading kids/groceries/strollers/stuff in and out of it is far easier than in any trumped up SUV and gets better fuel economy doing it.

That said, there is definitely a huge need for a larger SUV for some people. My Dad tows a 26' boat from MN into Canada on a regular basis with 5-6 people and all the supplies you'd need for a week in a remote area on Lake of the Woods. You're not going to do that in anything but a large SUV or a Winnebago.

Oh my god, I *LOVE* minivans. I grew up in a family that loved Caprice wagons, and I still do love them. From there my folks graduated to an Astrovan RalleySport (Really, lol!) but they never owned anything like a Dodge Caravan. It's a pity, I so love driving those things, when they're in good shape. They cruise all day long on the highway at 90-110 with the AC on, they get decent milage for the size of the van/engine combo, they're pretty safe in impacts...

They're cheap, they haul damn near anything, but the best part? You never get pulled over driving a minivan like a douche. I guess the cops just don't want to deal with some psycho mom and her 10 screaming kids. :dunno

For long trips hauling stuff? Minivan ftw.

too much chrome on the bumpers (obviously oversold by the wheels) for my taste

I agree, I think the wheels might need to be dechromed and painted to match the truck, or a contrasting color like matte black... if i don;t swap them back to some Chevy 20s or 08 escalade 18" takeoffs.

I really hate the wheels, shrug, but what are you gonna do? turn down a great truck over a set of wheels?

I don't really like the overall design of these wheels, and they wouldn't look good in any color.

ohhh yeah. I've seen a LOT worse around here.
F'ing rent-a-tire Blang blang... seems the uglier they are, the more the Rabbits (hippity hoppity followers) like em.

Heck Escalade 22s would be nice and I wouldn;t have to buy new tires... they really are not that 'thin' of a sidewall @ 305/45/22. About the same thickness as a 265/50/17?
4500:
part of the rake is that it is sitting nose down in my sloped driveway... I wouldnt mind dropping it an inch or two in the rear with drop coils, but it rides nice now and I don't want another touring fiasco where I trade ride comfort for looks.

Actually thinking of cranking the torsion bars up and lifting the front a little instead since that would help with tire clearance also. I'll have to look at that this weekend. I have airtools so no biggie to crank em a little :)
