I stopped at a shop yesterday that installed and Road Force balanced my new rims/tires. It was squeakly clean, owned and operated separately from a squeaky clean used car dealer and collector. Guy (dealer) had a 72 caddy convertible, 17k with original window sticker on it amongst many other nice cars. Shop owner lets me know the "owner" saw my car and wanted it. Sure enough, I go outside to get in and drive away, guy's in love. Won't let me leave. "what year is it? Did you restore it? How much you want for it, I'll buy it now". Sure, I was flattered, but of course, not selling her. However, for all you guys interested in selling a squeakly clean sixer in this lousy market, this might be your chance. My sense is he'll pay whatever you want. Mine is schwartz/lotus, my sense is he just wants clean and the lower the miles the better. I'm in RI. He's in his late 60's and asked me not to wait too long on making my decision...

Hi Jeff....Please show him this one ..

i've got a steep down payment coming up end of September on the loan for my new home here so will need wrap this up within the next 25 days or so ... btw, thanks for thinking of us who are parting with their first (and last) BMW...She's been thru about six others we have owned (and for the most part disliked) as we seem to be spoiled by the Sixer...i have been driving to LA daily for work as it's a good highway cruiser...

I had planned to finish up the restoration myself next 2 weeks with the few items left to perform to make her perfect in every way...these being as follows... 1) replace the struts that are a bit weak after 9 years and the rear shocks with a matching set (they are now adjustable Bilstein sports, new swaybar bushes and rear trailing arm bushes and perhaps the dogbones...

The one cosmetic repair that remains is taking the 10 year old dash cover off and repairing the 2-3 inch minor crack on the flat surface which nowadys can be repaired chemically for about $300 or so...If he's really serious, excited, does want a five-speed and not over his euphoria, then perhaps a sale can indeed take place. Btw the AC was completely replaced just prior to putting it up...Floor mats might be the most he has to do!

In compensation, I wiil adjust the current asking price to a sale price that reflects the value of this work being done and paid for by him...when I think about it, that acually might be better performed by the new owner anyway as tastes in ride are wide and different are they not?...Shall we say $10K even assuming he covers the cost of one-way transport to RI? It's now got 2 years of paid up registration and it's looking like she did when I bought her... basicaly she's ready to go!

I've driven not just a couple of these and IMHOpinin she's a really nice example, esp if you really see it up close...and drive it a bit...

btw, the ad above reads that the M30 motor has 150k on it which is a typo...actually was redone carefully to little tighter spec, at BMW in Santa Monica (Bob Smith) we did it that way to keep all the serial numbers matching, which is documented and actually it was re-installed and on the road at about 160k, just 28,000 miles ago, at a cost of over $6,000 dollars..

Since then It's been in dry storage up at my home in Oregon for the last 2 years. The bad roads around my new home in CA and snow without a garage is not the best place to keep her...I require a XWD and a highway car or at the very least something a bit more off-road oriented...here's a few more photos, I have about 25 or so....

I will PM you with my telephone # and perhaps he will enjoy it as much as we have over they years...
I think you understand that we really hate to see it go but it's a good time if any for that to occur...

Again thanks for the heads up...!

Randy

I'll post up the owner's email address if any of you want to contact him. Just need to locate his business card.
