Steering wheel doesn't make a perfect orbit

Anyone else notice this? Turn the wheel a few times and you'll notice that the top reaches a higher point than the bottom. In other words, the axis of the wheel is off center.

I wonder if this is normal for all cars or just a perk of the E36? :confused

You must of been really bored to notice that.

No doubt it's down to some ergonomic reason created by German engineers for some reason.
