i was curious which of the 2 cars (M3 and 535i w/ x drive) would have more issues over its lifetime. From what i have read it seems as if the M3 would need more attention especially with tires. I am considering either car, but leaning more towards the 535i but the sportiness and ora of the M3 just seems to call me. but i just want to know what i would be getting into if i got an M3

What years?

Both will have problems with tires. If that's really your main concern ruin the car and put some junky all seasons on it and they will last longer and be cheaper. If you really want to drive it tires are something you have to pay for to play the game.

535ix will have AWD, which could mean problems with the system, who knows. These are two completely different cars. Typically speaking the 5 series cost more to fix/maintain than a 3, but since you are looking at an M vs a Series, I can't really tell you.

M3 cost more to maintain than a V12 7-Series bud.
I'd suggest going for the 5-Series. Once you live with the car you begin to realise how much better build quality they are from the 3-Series in every respect.
