Uh Oh, Did I screw something up?

My power steering fluid reservoir was low over the weekend. I pulled the cover off and I thought the fluid looked very dark. I also thought that it took ATF. So, I topped it up with ATF. I had to go by my indy today for something else and I mentioned that the p/s was low. He asked me what I put in it and I said ATF. He said that was the wrong stuff. The cap does say something like CH 11.S (Its hard to read). I went ahead and bought some of the hydraulic fluid that is supposed to be the correct stuff. I drove it home (less than 5 miles) and used my "topsider" to suck it dry and then I topped it off with the real stuff. I started the car and turned the wheel side to side for 20 seconds or so, and then drained then drained the container again and topped it off with the good stuff. So, did I screw something up putting ATF in it.

By the way, my car does NOT have the self leveling suspension. So, I wonder why I need the hydraulic fluid in the power steering instead of just ATF?

Not that I can tell. But, I only drove about 4 miles from home to work after changing the fluid to the correct stuff. I didn't hear or feel anything.

I did the same mistake, the power steering hose got messed up because of that and I had to replace it. With me all the fluid disappeared in 2 hours of driving after putting the ATF.

I have only had the car for 8 days. So, I haven't done anything major.
I thought I didn't have SLS. But, I suppose you are right, if the power steering reservoir says 11S, maybe I do. How else would I know if I have it besides the p/s cap?

Look above the rear wheels. If you see any sort of hose, that is the pressure line for the rear shocks.

I was just looking for some of the Pentosin 11S. I figured I should have some on hand. I have also seen threads on here that said the fluid was green. When I was at my indy's the other day (when he told me I put the wrong stuff in), he sold me two bottles (not cans) of fluid that said "Hydraulic" on it. They were not the pentosin cans.

It was a clear fluid with a blue tint to it.

Did he sell me the wrong stuff?

I can't post pics. But, it is a blue bottle with white letters on it. The maker is FEBI. I think it is the same hydraulic fluid used in Mercedes Hydraulic sytems.
