Sounds like shifter linkage bushings.

That wouldn't cause it. Does your shifter feel loose and wobbley? It should be firm and go into the gears easily. This is one of those issues that pops up around 100k.

nop it feels pretty firm .... like I said... now it went away...this morning went to work went into 3rd easily , in 2nd a bit harsh but that's probably because the trany oil was cold...

honestly it sounds like the tranny just needs broken in with new fluid to make up for loss of syncro material and help keep viscosity. These are your enemy when it comes to keeping parts moving "fresh". get some of the royal purple fluid they say to get for your car, then take your car out and drive for at least 100mi non-stop this really helps the fluid break into everything, and clean up old nastiest in there. you will be amazed at how nice your transmission feels after. (that is if there is no leaks in the current; a small leak can mean disaster.) __________________

Could be a synchronizer for that gear.

I use Royal Purple Synchromax, I got it at the local hot rod shop for about $10 a qt, changing out that and putting Mobil 1 LS 75w90 in my rear end really made the drive line feel a lot more solid.

My car feels like this..when in gear. Would that be fixed by replacing the shifter linkage bushing? Im at 140k now.

I dont understand this line of thinking. You have a problem shifting and come on here asking for help. It sounds like you wanted someone to just tell you to change the tranny fluid. Well you already did that. This isn't an auto tranny we're talking about this is a 5 speed. Different brands of fluid aren't going to magically make all your symptoms go away. If you want to waste an hour draining and refilling the tranny go ahead. I will never understand why people come on here and say "I have a problem and I have no idea what is causing it" Then you tell them the answer and they say NO NO NO it cant be that. I don't kniow what it is but it just cant be that.

I said that it's not the linkage because my shift nob has no play in it !!!! and.... further more it shifts hard into 3rd only sometimes... like in the cold mornings , but not every time ! If u would read my post entirely you would have wasted your precious time writing that post !!! :D
Anyway ... I suspect some synchro issues ... but for now I'll just ignore it :rolleyes

does the shifter have to feel loose for the bushing/s to be bad? can they go bad down below and cause bad shift feel but no play up top?

The shifter doesnt' have to feel loose for some of the bushings to be bad.
Perhaps this is your problem. Read the entire thread.
