As you may know, or have guessed, i have a E36 318i.

I just picked up a set of Style 68 M style Staggered wheels for my ride.

i got a great deal and went and bought them before i even checked if they would fit.

so anyways. the specs are

FRONTS- 7 1/2 x 17 et (offset) 41
REARS - 8 1/2 x 17 et (offset) 50

I'm almost positive the fronts will fit but not so sure about the rears.

The offset looks right but the 8 1/2 width scares me.

So does anyone know whether these will fit without ANY rubbing or scraping?

i attached a pic of what the wheels look like

what tire size should i run to minimize the chance of rubbing?

Could i run 235/45/17 for the fronts and rears?

or should i run that in the rear and then something like 225/45/17 for the front?

The correct tire size to run on staggered 17'' oem wheels is 225/45/17 on the front and 245/40/17 in the rear. They will fit fine without issues as they are stock sizes for E36 m3 which has the same chassis.

are you sure i could run they standard (M3) tire size on my non M car?

Because right now I have 17" wheels on that have 205/50/17 tires and the guy who put them on at the shop told me that they barely fit.

205/50/17 is not the correct size for a 17'' wheel on an E36. That size will be too narrow and too tall for your car.

As long as the the offset is within factory specs, 225/45/17 is correct for a 7.5'' wide wheel and 245/40/17 is correct for an 8.5'' wide wheel. Plenty of people running this setup on their non-M E36s (including me on two of my old cars), check out the wheel and tire section.

Okay...I know these wouldn't be the ideal size.

But could i run 225/45/17 all the way around?

225/45/17?

for front and rear?
