Hey guys
My dad has a pristine 90 735iL that he bought slightly used in 1991...the car has been maintained to the highest level thru the years...never seen snow EVER, always garaged, oil changed every 3k since new, transmission fluid changes...
Every year when it comes out of storage (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1293835#) it goes to the shop to get serviced......well it has around 170k on it now and after coming back from the shop for its annual service it has a rough idle...RPMs dont bounce, but it feels very much like it is running on 5 cylinders (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1293835#)...we are somewhat sure its the ignition wires...but could it be something else? Could it be the distributior cap? It seems to be worse when the car is put in Drive or Reverse...but it still does in Neutral and Park....its not affected by the air conditioner either....it reminds me very much of when the coil pack went on my Jetta...but it has not thrown a CEL or code of any type....We removed the cold air intake and installed the factory airbox and it reacts the same...also to note, the car has had the Bavarian Autosport Performance chip and Power Flow intake for about two years....
Could it be a fuel filter, even though its been changed in the last 10k miles...
So should we order new wires? And if so what do you guys think about Bav Auto's High Perfomance wire set as an upgrade?
