Funny you say that, I was looking at getting those exact wheels a few years ago. My only problem, all I wanted was to see what they looked like on the e38. I spent weeks/months searching cardomain, here, there, everywhere for pics of them and couldn't find one. Obviously they weren't too popular back then.
But to answer your question, I think they are popular (and why I love them) because they are a classic multispoke that fits the bodylines of the e38 perfectly. It gives the car an even more upscale look, kinda how stock 16" 750iL wheels looked to set it apart from the 740. Just my opinion

Exactly this. They look alright on that 740, but even better on Zorack's car.

Only because Beyern Multis are one of the classiest looking wheels out there! Too bad they are expensive as all hell :(
Alot of cars have the badges put on that top lip. I bought mine from the previous owner with the same badge placement. Didn't last a week before I ripped the bugger off.

I had my heart set on getting Beyern Multis until I actually saw my Sport with M-Pars in the flesh. You can't go messin with a classic.
Having said that, if I were going to go down the wheel change route, i'd go for Alpina Softlines, but as we all know, THEY aren't cheap. Well over $5000 with tyres over here.

I love these cars with multi-spoke wheels. I wanted a set bad, but just couldnt afford them. So I settled for a mesh style. Still looks cool.

I do see alot of them around here too. I have seen two X5 with them. I had never seen them before I bought mine.

I've seen those rims on 3's, 5's and some 7's but I'm not a big fan of them. Tend to favor 18" oem M-parallels and 20" Style 32's.

or ironically, some OEM-hugger-purist just had to put a badge back on after a previous owner's debadging. aka FAIL
