Looking to buy a set of new tires for the MPars, wanted to get a feed back from you guys on which ones you like which are better, worse, expensive, cheap etc.. you get the drift. I have on now are Pirellis P Zero they are getting low on thread plus, I notice a Chunk was missing on one of them in the front.:confused Was looking a Michelins,Toyos T1-Rs dunno if I wanna buy the same Pirellis that I have now. So I figure I'll hear from your guys in what you are running.

I have the Toyos after two sets of Michelin Pilot Sports on my '01 i Sport - would not go back to the Michelins after these.

Ive got a set of Pirellis on that came with the car. I also have some Good Year ice tires for the snow. The Good Years rock on ice and the Pirellis I never get the chance to fully appreciate because I don't drive like a maniac during the dry season. I would normally buy Michelins for my seven but the Pirellis where on the car when I bought it.

When i have/had my MPars on i run continentals ...They're not the cheapest, but they are the most quite tire ive run so far..i've tried bf goodrich, kumho, goodyear..none of them were as smooth as the continental contisport pro (i think that's the name...there's 2 or 3 series of conti's that have similar names)
just my .02

I have conti's contact 2 on my GTI now and I also had Toyos T1-S when they were available Now they call T1-R's and to tell you the truth I like them both but more the toyos cause of how sticky they were on the road, plus I use to take the GTI to the track and run both. But since im new to the e38 dunno if these cars prefer a certain brand. Me personally I think if one tire is good on another make they should be good for any make. but again im new here and on the e38 so Ill rather ask the Pros
Oh... Wilk187 the chick do dig the long wheelbase hehe...:D

Something I never thought of was tyre noise. What would be good for minimal noise, I don't drive like a maniac so little noise would be top of my list along with looks.

Sounds like you already know about them...I have the Ts-1 also on my MPars. I like them in wet or dry all around and I agree the Conti's are very quiet, I have them on my M6 wheels right now. They came on the wheels, were OEM from factory. So far like them as well, better than Michelins for sure.

I just had a thought, surely BMW picked the Michelin PSs for the 7 series for a reason over other tyres? Or are they in bed with Michelin on pretty much everything?

Don't you only have about 30K mi on your '01 i Sport? And you're on your third set of tires?

Have Goodyear eagle gt runflats. Run bf goodrich on the Benz it does very well on them. Had continentals and they flat spotted very early. Put potenza finish lines on another Benz and they've done very well.

Have never had any success with michelins since the 1980's.

I switched from the Michelins, to

"Yokohama AVID H4S (High Performance All-Season) "

THey are all season performance, and my biggest concern is how these tires worked in the rain, as I do a lot of Turnpike Driving - they were rated excellent rain, and I think the feel better than the OEM Michelins that were on it - - these AVIDS were $116.00 at Tire Rack, and the michelins were $198.00, and when reviewed, were only marginally better - -

So, I switched out - Price was a factor as well - as well as the UTQG: Michelins 400 Yoko were 500 -

Little off jeffi....only 26K all on the MPars, well about 300 now on the M6 wheels. The first two sets of Michelins were at the wear bars at 11K ea. and I changes them to the Toyo's......now Conti.:buttrock

I used to use the Avid H4S, did not really like them...

Currently running Kumho Ecsta SPT's which are good but not great...haha

Recommend Falken FK452's , Azenis ST115 aren't too bad either...

+1 on the Falken 452's, dead quite and dumb grippy. Is 20k miles on them bad?

Hi,

I have Hankook Ventus K104 sports on repro staggered M-Pars. After a couple thousand kms on them I noticed they got noticeably louder on the highway. Some folks have posted that a quiet ride is important so I cannot recommend the Hankooks for them. However, these tires have excellent grip on wet roads. Dry grip is great as well. I'm not sure how long they will last though.

Heheeh. i'm runing 19" P Zero Rossos, that I got used off of Ebay for $25 each. they had 6-8/32s tread on them, and are still in about the same condition after a year. When they get used a bit more, I'll get another set just like them. ;)

I bought Continental Conti Pro Contact for my mpars. I've never bought a non z rated tire before these, but after reading reviews of Pilot Sports only getting 10k miles, I elected to get a tire that will live. They ride very nice, quiet, rated for 60k miles, and still have pretty damn good grip. I spend a lot of time up on two wheels in this car and they're not bad. I knew with the Pilots the way I drive I'd probably only get 5k miles.

This evening on the way home from work I took a back road, very curvy, lots of dips, humps, off camber curves, etc. Ran the shit out of the car, probably running between 60 and 100 mph most of the way (50mph road) and the tires grip very well.

Unlike my other cars, it's not easy to spend much time over 120 in this car so I'm not worried about the speed rating. I'm sure the Pilot Sports are fun to drive, but I don't plan to spend $1500/yr on tires alone.
