I've got a no start (engine turns, won't catch, drains battery) after the car sat for a week under the cover in daily rainstorms.

I'm unable to access the No Start troubleshooting list on the Big Coupe Tech library (does anyone have a copy?) and wondered if anyone has advice on things to look for before sending the car to the wrenches on Monday??

Thanks

Rick's no start page (http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?ep=16&ext=1&groupid=160912&ck=)

The engine control unit (ECU) is mounted above the glove compartment space. Storm water can pool in the bottom corners of the windshield. If the water gets past the windshield seal on the passenger side, then it drips directly on top of the ECU.

This happened on my son's '87 635. We pulled the ECU, opened it up and cleaned corrosion with Qtips and electronics cleaner. When reinstalling the ECU, we set a piece of stiff plastic on top as a temporary measure to protect the unit until the windsheild seal could be replaced. The car was wrecked before seal replacement but the ECU worked fine in incliment weather until its demise.

What we found in the ECU . . .
