Sorry to ask this question, but after searching, it is still unclear. I had a new Alpine headunit installed in place of the 6 CD changer in my 200 540i. I had to disconnect the battery and lost the date and time. Now without the button controls, I am at a loss for how to reset the date and time with the OBC stalk (left side of steering wheel) alone.
Help!

thanks so much,
Jeff

You can't. The BC feature on the turn indicator stalk is a redundant accessory that allows you to program the OBC features into the CCD (check control display). If you read the instructions for programming the turn indicator stalk...it states that you have to select and set the features you want programmed into the CCD by pressing the buttons on the MID or NAV screen.

The CCD 20-digit alpha/numeric display belongs first to the Check Control System...and again, the ability to program the OBC features into that display is an added benefit. The buttons and display for the Clock/Audio/OBC/Phone is integrated into either the MID or Nav screen. If you removed either of those components...you've removed the ability to access/change the functioning of those features.

Doesn't your new system have a clock? As you can see in the first sentence in the info below...it states that the MID (this would also apply to the NAV screen) uses the MID for CONTROL & DISPLAY of the aforementioned functions.

Apparently there is a way to install your MID in the glove compartment to avoid losing those features.

This or you can hook it up temporarily to set the clock. Or you can do some fabrication and install the MID with the Alpine (there is enough room - barely).

Thanks so much. I will try to have the MID hooked up in the glove box! Great idea. In the meantime, could you also tell me if I can reset anything, such as the MPG with just the stalk or is EVERYTHING reset by the MID only?

thanks,
Jeff

It's all controlled from the MID or NAV.
