I tried to post a link to the eBay auction but my acct is restricted.

Current wheel is 17 inches...tire size 235/45/ RZ 17
The wheels I am looking at came off a 2005 X3 and the tire size is 235/45/R17 with an 8J width and 5 x 120 bolt pattern. The part number is 36113401199.

I called my local BMW dealership and the said they were unsure.Tire sizes are similar and from my research the bolt patterns are the same. Are there any other factors that can make a difference.

Thanks in advance.

yes... the bore size of the actual pattern. We have a bore of 74mm while other have 72.5mm

thanks. so that means they wont fit?

Here's more info I found on another (UK) forum:

5 Series E39 = PCD 5x120, centre bore 74.0mm and M12x1.5 bolt thread. ET 15-25

X3 E83 = PCD 5x120, centre bore 72.5mm and M14x1.5 bolt thread. ET 40-45

Correct, they won't fit with the X3 bore size. Not to mention the offset is much higher, which IIRC means it will be really tucked in under your wheel well and would require spacers.

medicman,

They can fit with the correct modification, you will have to bore out the hub of the wheel to match yours. I bored the wheels from the e60 5 series , the new five spoke design to put on my buddies 530 and that was the only thing you had to do. just have, for example, a wheel bearing/hub from your same model and bore it to fit. hope this helps a little

an offset of 20 and below is necessary for the e39, unless they are really wide wheels. 3 series wheels are et40+, e60 5 series wheels will fit, but need to be bored out to e39 spec 74.1 mm hub.
