i'm looking to get a set of side skirts. Hamann or BMW oem. for those that installed them already on E39's can you please post some pics.

streetconcept has the Hamann for $229 (fiberglass flex):confused

Mrbodykit has the Hamann for $200

BMW oem are $369 (polyu):)

this is what i read at a website about all the fiberglass flex:

The name is correct, they are defiantly flexible. But the fitment we experience was not good at all. The surface of the kit was extremely wavy which required extensive blocking. We found several air pockets that have to be picked out and repaired. Fitment was so bad we had to spend way to much time (would blow your budget) fitting the panels. Side skirts were so bad it was disgusting.
If your willing to spend the extra time and money just to have a fiberglass panel flex like urethane but still not be impact resistant go ahead. We have yet to see a Dura Flex panel that didn't require an abnormal amount of extra work to install and paint.

this is why i'm leaning on going with the BMW oem side skirts.:help

thanks for your help, Freddie

Talk to Joe from EuroDyne about his HM style side skirts.

i was waiting for pics of his demo side skirts but the car has been in the body-shop for about a month now. don't know whats going on over there. some are saying price is some what high even it being a group deal.

i just need some good pics of the BMW oem side skirts. looks like alot of work needs to be done on the Hamann style side skirts.

i don't think buying a set of side skirts for $200 or $300 and then paying $300 - $400 for finishing & installing them is a great idea.

any E39 with oem side skirts please post pics.:help

i now have front & back oem BMW lips.

look through the e39 registry, maybe someone has installed pics posted there. Not many have the side skirts.

can you tell me where you got the skirts from & what they cost you? and did the skirts have alot of waves in them or pin holes?
thanks for the pics.

i will try to get some pics of my car later.

Hi,

I got the sideskirts from a UK supplier called SSDD Motorsports. Google his website and he may be able to put you in touch with a supplier local to you (name is Teddy). The cost was around £400. Not cheap I know, but an improvement in my eyes over the OEM skirts which were just too plain for me.

The skirts were fairly smooth and my bodyshop didn't complain too much when fitting them, no mention of pinholes. The fitment is excellent but again that may be down to the competence of my bodyshop. They've been on the car almost 6-7 months now and still look great.

they look good. they make the car look lower. it's even lower than your front bumper.

the oem BMW front & rear lip has that center cut-out that the Hamann side skirts have. i think it would look good on my car.

this is a pic of the front:

Nice car. They may suit your car I think. They'll look improved on mine when I fit 19's and lower the car. ;)
