I plasti dipped my wiper arms (starting to show signs of rust) a few weeks ago. Turned out awesome. Fast forward yesterday. Waxed the car using Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Pro Hi-Tech yellow wax. I've been using this stuff for years with zero side effects until now. Splatter got on the wiper arms and ate through the plasti dip as if it was acid! First I saw bubbling sorta blistering. I wiped and the rubber rolled under my finger like nothing. Thought oh well, only a small area. I warn anyone who has covered more than just wiper arms. Please wax with coution!

Damn, that sucks. My wiper blades are actually starting to rust a little too....did you sand them down prior to plasti-dipping them? How long did they hold up until the wax ruined it?

I wanted to restore the driver's side wiper arm too due to some sort of corrosion. Not sure how to remove the arm though

No sanding prior. Two weeks went past before I got the splatter on them. Should have just used the black trim paint instead.

I just masked mine off and it turned out awesome until the splatter.

Which black trim paint are you referring to?

I thought I still had the can to snap a shot but I guess I don't. The trim paint comes from Auto Zone. It says it's for repainting plastic trim or molding. The end result is a semi gloss finish. The exact shade as the OEM. I tried the plasti dip because I like trying new techniques. I did my impala using the trim paint and the results were great. Both methods are done the exact same way, mask or remove.

I am sorry to hear this...but I've been waiting for the curtain to fall on Plasti-Dip. No shortcuts and Plasti-Dip cuts several. Remove arms, sand with three levels of sandpaper. Clean. Spray Primer. Spray several coats of Black paint. Re-install.

I'm with you but I was open to new ideas. I'm glad I only did a small area first before tackling molding and trim. I never really liked the feel of the plasti dip. It always felt sort of sticky or tacky. I was also afraid that my finger nail would accidentally peel the plastic up.
