I have a 1992 325is 5 speed and I just wrecked my transmission.
I was accelerating fast in first, shifted into second, and bang, nothing... transmission would not work anymore.

When the clutch is engaged, there is this rattling/scraping sound that comes from underneath the car, like the driveshaft is bouncing around on the exhaust. My mechanic said the flex disk was fine and that the transmission is bad.

So I'm looking for a replacement transmission, and a good clutch if you have that too, mine has 112,000 miles on it.

I had the transmission and differential oils changed to Redline oils 10 months ago, does doing so on higher mileage transmissions usually cause any problems?

Will any E36 transmission bolt right up to my engine? besides the M3, without any additional modifications. Or, what else would be needed, anyone know?
Thanks

Erik

yes...the M3 tranny which is a ZF is better than the Getrag tranny that you have in your 325.

the ZF tranny can handle more TQ and HP.

Since your old tranny is bad and needs to be replaced, the ZF tranny would be a great upgrade!

You will need a new driveshaft.

You MIGHT need a new flange too for the rear diff.

You will need a new clutch of course as well as a flywheel.
