It used to be all about trap speed. It had to be because I had no idea how to set up a car or drive it. After 5 years of slugging it out with the track I have come to appreciate efficiency of a run. Trap speed has little importance. Set up, ability to drive the car and consistency are the most important to me now.

While my turbo cars have failed me recently and funds have dried up for fixing everything, I have focused on driving.

Recently I have been forced to run my stock M5 (no hardship really)

It's a 2000, bone stock with 96k miles. Only mod is BFG drag radials on 540i wheels.

The first time I went out I managed a 1.80 short time and 13.08 @ 104.49. The other 3 runs were 2/3 tenths slower due to eractic short time.

Last night I had 6 runs. First three were in the 13.40 range with poor short times. I tried to wrap my head around how I accomplished the 1.8. I understood how it happened but really wanted to consistantly impliment the technique.

The 4 run was a little better with a 1.97 and 13.36. I let the car sit for 20 minutes and ran two tuns in the last 15 minutes of the night hot lapping.

I launched the car at 5500rpm and rode the clutch with no tire spin resulting in the consistancy I was striving for.

Last two runs:

60ft 1.88
13.24 @ 104.69

and

60ft 1.89
13.23 @ 104.39

This post might seem like a little pat on my own back but I wanted to share an accomplishment that wasn't just HP related.

What's the elevation where you live? I would have thought that with a 1.8 60ft you would have been in the 12's. Trap speed is low as well isn't it?

700ft above sea level. It runs what it runs, not worried about the trap speed.
