So I just did my first drift event this past weekend. Here's a list of the carnage I created on my car.
*Car was scraping in the back from being too low (quick spring change)
* Hit a tire and bent the radiator back (bent it back and continued)
* Electric puller fan was obliterated from hitting the motor on that run
* Bumper came off the side mounts and was hanging (who hasn't done this)
* Car almost overheated w/o the fan and the radiator being all beat up while it was sitting in grid - ran without a hood for the rest of the day.
And the two things that ended my day because I couldn't fix them
* Broke off the entire shifter
* Blew up the power steering pump and coated my engine bay in ATF
Atleast I didn't break the motor or trans or drive into a wall or something...
LIST THE CARNAGE YOU CREATED AT YOUR FIRST DRIFT EVENT.
Some pics from mine...

Well, I stuffed my car into a guard rail on the way home from the event.
KEEP IT ON THE TRACK
(or in parking lots with nothing to hit)

If you have RWD, more likely than not, you can get it sideways. Heck, you can powerslide an FWD with enough practice lol...
There's a guy named Derrick who used to campaign an El Camino on the D1GP circuit - he has since torn apart his ElCamino, but he was at the event drifting a 78 rwhp miata, and he was actually sustaining the drifts even through the long turns! That guy has SKILL!

lol...A little damage caused in that last run you took before we ended the day lol - used shifter+used ps pump+labor to fix - car's already ready to roll for the next event already lol... I expect a big discount when I get your control arm/tie rod steering kit when you have it done.
I heard - Marvin told me about Russel driving Derrick's car into the fence...damn - sucks - time for Derrick to put the Elkie back together again?
So you driving at next month's event too? I plan to have my cooling system complete and a bash bar setup done before the next event - maybe even paint! We're autocrossing in College Station this weekend - might take the green car up there too to do a couple runs to check the car again and setup the suspension better and more neutral from side to side. It's a practice event and we should get enough setup time.

231 cones in a lot that is bumpy and inconsistent. Same lot as 03 and 04 Formula D Houston.
Derick will not be bringing the Camino out for at least another 2 years.
He will be putting the drysump 9,000 rpm 550hp LS1 into a miata first.

yesterday (not my first drift day) I broke: rear right Ebrake shoe assembly, guibo, temps were just really bad, cluster fell out cuz I forgot to screw it in, wheel bashed into fender, sway bars are now minus paint on some parts, etc etc.

I hope you had fun at the event! I'm the guy that hosts the events. I like seeing bmw's out there, I started a long time ago in an e36 m3. I just picked up an old e34 m5 to play with recently, so I will be on this board again. I'm hosting another event at GGP this weekend on sunday, come out and drift! I will be hosting some road course drifting this year as well, and some road racing. I hope to see more and more bmw guys out there!

Hell I used to drift a 82rwhp automatic open diff MK1 supra, When you don't have that much power you just have to work a little harder. You have plenty of power to drift on a dry surface, maybe not 3rd gear speeds but you defiantly have enough for some parking lot action.
