98 328 i Convert Shift Knob

How does the factory 5spd shifter knob attach to the shifter shaft? - the knob keeps coming off in my hand at the most inconvenient times!

It just presses on. If yours keeps popping of, you need a new knob as the plastic tabs on the old knob are broken. You could glue it on too, but you might never get it off.

Also, give the current knob an couple good close fisted pounds straight down on it. That might seat it better.
