I'll keep updating as I find more documents,

E39 patent issued in '94 (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=D406,252.PN.&OS=PN/D406,252&RS=PN/D406,252)
Z3 '94 (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=D371,328.PN.&OS=PN/D371,328&RS=PN/D371,328)
E92? (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=D514,985.PN.&OS=PN/D514,985&RS=PN/D514,985) The reason why I put the ? is because only a couple of pics will load for me, which resembles an non-M e46 but it states it was issued in 2006.

I put this list up on Wiki a few months ago, I keep updating it, but here's pretty much every BMW since 1990-present

It doesn't appear that he does, I looked up all of his credited patents, and pretty much it's the Z3, supposedly the e36 though I haven't found the uspn, e39, and e90/2. He's also designed 2 wheels, holds the patents for various bumpers hoods and the z3 grills. The various bumpers and hoods seem to just be supplemental patents and face lifts.

Doing a report or something?

Bangle was American chief of design from '92, to '09. Nagashima was born and raised in Japan, worked in Munich

O yeah I'm sure they've crossed paths a bunch of times. They just happen to work in different countries for I'm assuming different marketing. It makes since if you think about it put different designers at different headquarters so they'll have different influences. Nagashima also designed the E90/2/3 while Bangle was chief of design, so I'm sure he had his input.

Don't a matter of that, he left to pursue new challenges. If lets say bmw creates a sport truck division or something, he may see that as a new challenge and attempt rehire. It doesn't look likely that he's going back, I'm sure he though about that career move long and hard.

Oh, God, please let this happen.

The way it works is the design chief puts a direction for where they want to go. The way a design gets put into production is through a pool of artists. Who ever makes the best design makes the production car. That said Joji has had 4 of his designs come to life. Also the E92/93 is done by Marc Michael Markefka, as pointed out by the wiki list I created.

Yea sorry, only e90, not e90/2/3. Designers are like think tanks. They get a concept, and a desired demograpic, and go to town. Of course alot more goes into it as far as consderations and restrictions, but pretty much the design that the director likes the best gets chosen and the designer gets credit.
