View Full Version : Will a radiator and fan from a 94' 740i work on a 95' 540i/6?

So, I guess i had a bad fan clutch. I red-lined my car and my fan exploded...taking out the fan shroud, hoses, and my radiator...maybe more I have not seen yet. Anyway, a friend has a 1994 740i that is out of commission so I am wondering if the parts are interchangable.

Thanks

Not sure, but I doubt it.

Try going to realoem.com and cross reference the part numbers
to see if they match.

did the fan damage your hood?

Like Patrick said check realoem.com or pelicanparts.com. Look at the part numbers for each and see if they mix. Possible

I'll have to check out that web-site. Skyline, surprisingly no. I think they went to the side when they broke.

Is that friend parting his car?

Yes

Can anyone confirm this?

And yes, he's parting the car. No engine.

I suspect it will fit as will the fan shroud. I've used the same parts from an E32 750 before.

If he said it works then it works. Believe that.

I think they are different. A radiator from an AT car is different than a manual

I think I'm going to just have to try it and see if it works. As far as getting a new radiator...don't have the funds and the one in the 740 is fairly new anyway and I can get it for next to nothing. If it doesn't fit then I'll buy a new one. I'm doing it today. I'll let everyone know for sure after I do it.

I just replaced an engine in a 94 740 and I didn't compare the radiator or shroud I'm almost sure they are the same as the 540's. Even if its just a bracket or something that's different I'm sure you could make it work to get you by as long as you can fabricate.

You might have trashed motor mounts. It allows enough movement at wot to have the fan hit the shroud and shatter... This happened on my e38.
