I just read motor trends review where they compared the F01, A8 4.2, and Mercedes S550. I think their review was blatantly bias, as I can't trust them I will never buy their magazine again. Anyone else feel the same?

i used to read motor trend, but it turned into a consumer magazine. it used to be a enthusiast magazine. when the editor c van tun or whatever the hell his name was left, it went down hill after that.

car and driver is a good magazine tho, wonder wat they will say about the f01

C&D reviewed the F01 already, they put it up against the S550. They said the F01 was better than the S550 in nearly everything.

Uh, I read the review and agree. I don't see any bias.

Perhaps you're just a fanboy and expect every BMW to be rated #1 ;)

Summed up senior editor Ed Loh in the logbook: "No question the BMW is a fast, fast getaway sedan -- the one you want when you're carting a boatload of dough out of Terry Benedict's casino. Squash the gas pedal and the big 7 just goes and goes. The problem is, that's about all it does. Its lazy throttle response, turbo lag -- whatever the problem is -- kneecaps the car in situations when full throttle isn't required (99 percent of the time). I can forgive a luxury sedan that gets this formula wrong the other way -- buttery smooth most of the time, hopeless in full-throttle situations. This is unconscionable."Indeed.

Sum up is, if you want a good all-round luxury sedan, try the Benz.
If you want just about everything the Benz has, as well as better performance and handling, do the BMW. M-B's are blocks. No soul. The BMW is driver's car, and that is acknowledged in both reviews.

Reviews depend on what you value in a car. C&D review hinged more on driving pleasure.

I tend to agree. The Benz has always been a more comfortable car but it lacks the feel of the BMW. It depends alot on what your looking to get out of your 100,000 sedan. After driving both i pefer the 7 for its sportier feel.

I don't think it's as biased as the tv show :shifty

Basically like an episode of the show in magazine form. Articles and reviews are interesting and well written, and each issue is a solid 150 pages with NO ads (all ads are put in the back pages). Clarkson reviews the V12 Vantage in the latest issue. I get it from Barnes & Noble, but since it's imported they usually only have 2-3 issues in stock.
