After 216,000 miles my starter has went bad. :(

Anybody ever swapped one? Any tips? Is it a PITA?

The position it's in on the engine makes it look a little intimidating...

On another note...

I scored this bad boy :)

Never seen one before, and this one has never been used.

Haha didn't you mean to say "my starter lost the ability for me to beat it into working" And I'm going to say working under the car will be easiest. Best advice I can offer haha.

Its not terrible, just comes out from underneath. You've got two bolts that the heads are on the trans side, they are a #10 or 12 star head bolt. I can't find my set of sockets to double check but I got a whole kit at Harbor Freight for like $10. I'm almost sure you can swing the starter out the bottom with the wires still connected so that makes it easier. I've done a trans on one of my 94's and and engine swap on a 740, both were the same.
