Hey guys!

I have a 518i with towbar and electrics already installed but have recently found out that there is an extra set of indicator lights on the dash. Reading the manual these should flash when the trailer lights are working. The trailer lights work but no light on the dash. How do you wire up these extra lights? Surely it must simply be a wire in the boot?

That has got to be one of the most interesting questions I have ever heard posted here. Never heard of these lights. Do you have the wiring diagrams?

lol, No sorry I dont have any wiring diagrams for my car at all. Do you know the lights I am on about? You have the left and right green arrows which light up in respect to which way you are signaling, then directly underneath you have a single light with two green arrows again. These should light up when the trailer lights are working.

I've never looked closly at the dash (but will next time I am out) It sounds like the trailer wiring can be routed through the CCM (check control module) or AHM (trailer Towing Module) which was not used in US vehicles.

You may not have the module installed or not connected. Go to realoem.com and look up this part number 61351390351

ah! think youve got it spot on there zubbie. Will have a look it see if I have the module. If not mite see how hard they are to wire in. Plenty of e34 in the scrappy near me, one must have one on. Thanks for your help. will keep you updated if there is any progress.

The problem is that you're in the UK with the lowest specced e34 (518)

The gauge cluster in your car is more akin to the e30 cluster in our cars. Do you even have the check control display under your gauges? Pretty sure I've seen pics and you don't... post pics of your cluster please.
