Came out last month. Multiple threads discussing it. Bimmer is a rag.

Not a usual fan. Get it occasionally for the articles. What occupies space next to my toilet is "Hemming's Sports and Exotic Car"

I buy it at the news stand every month (well, 8/12). It's not a particularly great magazine, but it's BMW and other car magazines don't really do it for me any more. This month's E34 market update was quite disappointing. Generally with the market updates they have a section called "Maladies: From major to minor" which details the general problems owners of the given cars will experience. They seem to have left that out for the E34 market update, unfortunately. Also, sticking to his pompous-BMW-owner-douche style, Mike Miller titled the article "Little Loved Fives." You'll learn more about E34s spending 10 minutes on the forums than reading this article.

We should get some pictures of nice E34's together and send it to him...lol.
I would put my E34 up against any new BMW any day and i have owned and driven a few nice ones. I have stated before that i love the fact that they are underrated cars.

I like the mag myself and have a two year subscription. I'm on the road a lot and don't always have time to read the forums and search for what I want to read. I just like that they talk about our old cars still in a mag - also like to read about cars I can't afford yet lol. It's kind of a magazine you always need to suscribe to from day one because they don't repeat alot and they do refer to past issues. Also, it's faster to read about a car you're thinking of getting in a magazine than spending endless hours seaching the forums and then filtering through the junk. I feel Bimmer mag knows what they're talking about; at least they know more then I do anyway. I'll always have a subscription to bimmer mag.

On second thought I think Mike Miller was referring to the market's lack of love for the E34, as reflected in their prices. I believe he once called the E34 the "last real BMW" or something. I do not, however, retract my pompous-BMW-owner-douche comment. :D

i agree. e30, e34, and e32 were the last of the best looking bmw's. The new models just dont seem to have any soul to them. :(

Unfortunately, soul can be easily replaced with short-lived fire-power. Even some of the most expensive (and incredible vs price) cars are considered disposable due to the lack of respect the dollar, these days. Even in times like this.
Right now, I think the only company that will be seriously looking into build quality, longevity and consumer value, will be the one that plummeted and given a chance to restructure.

I would like to read the article and see what it has to say. I only read the magazine if I am at the bookstore. I subscribe to CPU and Maximum PC

Well I think you opinion is very wrong, and I find bimmer mag to be superficial at best, except when covering some prewar- 1950s gem.

I've always been very disappointed with Bimmer mag.
There's nothing there for me.
I have a subscription too. I like the writing.
That article refered to by the OP is a sort of continuation of one from a year or two ago, where they discussed the E34 in more depth.

I've flipped through a bit, may as well be The Roundel's little brother. Any mag that is so beholden to a single brand (or advertiser, isn't that right, R&T, C&D, and all the other mags that have been drinking the domestic kool-aid since the 80s?) is going to lack the dynamics that make a magazine worth reading. It's like in The Roundel; where is the dissenting opinion? In the 3 or 4 years I read it, I think the biggest insult to BMW was "The car drives so well, there's no challenge anymore." (or something to that effect)
I saw the same sort of thing in Bimmermag. You'll see the same thing in all the brand-specifc rags.
In terms of car magazines, I do like CAR and Grassroots Motorsports.
