I've never heard of it, but it looks authentic.

I believe that is legit, and they actually plan on making a new line up of M5 and M3 station wagons...

Because of the extended frame, the car handels better, and the wagons are actually faster than some of the coupe models...

Personally, I would rather stick with the coupe...

BMW has tons of models available only in Europe and other parts of the world that we never see here in the U.S. I kinda wish they would offer some of those models in the U.S. too.

This brings up a big point... I think BMW is racist towards the Americans... What do you think? I mean look at the euro M3 and the American M3, they are not even close to the same car... I think I smell some bigotry here...

It's definitely real. Some guy in Florida imports and federalizes M5s from Germany. Those E34 M5s are pretty cheap inGermany. Something like that probably costs him @$8-$9k, plus federalizing costs and shipping.

I'd love to own that car and go to lowes, buy stuff for my house, and haul it home in the back while 4 wheel drifting all the corners.

I had a 528 wagon as a service loaner from our local dealership one afternoon. I used it to pick up some huge cabinets, from Anderson's, for my garage. I prolly had 800lbs worth of stuff loaded in the back of that thing!

Hehe that 528iT was a lot classier hauling those cabinets than a pickup truck

Not really, I think it's the whole thing about "emission & speed limit & driving condition" here in the US. I mean what's the point if you're going to be stuck on the freeway driving at 5mph. And when you're not, anything over 90mph and you're likely to get a date with your favorite highway patrol in court. Unless you just take it up the @$$ and pay the fines.

These wagons are f-ing fast. 340HP is stock, then bump it up with a Jim C chip to about 360HP. That's naturally aspriated power, too. 6 individual throttles, 3.8L (about as big as you can make that damn motor), huge headers, free-flowing catalyst, Electronic Damper Control (EDC), and huge tires all around. You can fit 255/40/17 and 275/35/17 on it. Or go with the 18x8 and 18x9 M-Parallel wheels. Drop in the 4-door's 6-speed and diff, and you have a car that would embarass some M3s.

BMW didn't think the wagon idea would ever catch on in the US (us rednecks w/ pickups or soccermoms w/ minivans or yuppies w/ Suck-U-V's. They had E30 wagons, E36 wagons, and E34 M5 wagons (the best selling M5 from 1993+ in Europe). We can't get them unless you spend $10 large on Federalization. It's not that hard, just REALLY EXPENSIVE!

Check out Rob Levinson's webpage. It has links to his former cars (one was a 475HP E28 M5 Dinan Turbo) and current cars:

I've heard that a significant # of ///M cars in Europe are wagons...oops...tourings.

yes.... europeans drive estates and tourers but we don't get wagons most of the time... next generation though, the E90 3-series (and 4-series) will have M3 sedan, M3 wagon, M4 coupe, and M4 cabrio
