Hey Guys,
In case anyone needs a detailer in the area, I just got my car back from Unique Car Care in Wakefield and they did an amazing job. No comparison to the few other detailers that have worked on my car over the years. Rick is obviously a car enthusiast himself and he spent the time to properly prep the car, remove the swirls, make touch ups, and seal the paint all before hitting it with any wax. The car is immaculate and if it ever stops raining maybe I'll actually drive it....

VERY nice car. I saw an 840 on I-95 in CT this evening, the vanity plate read "Glimpse". Not a car that we see every day, for sure.

Rick was recently voted one of the top 9 detailers by AutoWeek... his work is REDICULOUS!!!

Yeah, it was not cheap but I think it was a good value. I've had detailers do vastly inferior work for not much less money so from a value perspective I think it was a good deal. They price their work based on the initial condition of the car and the end result that you want so every job is different. This give you options from preparing for a concourse event or cleaning up your daily driver.

I'd expect decent amount more if the interior and engine bay were also done.

In for a more specific price range...

lol @ $100, how many of you work for 12.5/hour straight and have business costs and tons of expensive materials? 100 / 8 hours :lol

this quality of work, probably 6-8 hours of polishing alone to get that red car that red.....is probably 600-1k.

ajw45- It was a pleasure meeting you and I'm glad you are satisfied with the car! You have yourself a beautiful car and I hope to see you again in the future. We'll have to hit a car show if it ever stops raining :( . Take good care of my baby! :)

For those of you who were asking about pricing, every vehicle is different. It depends on multiple factors, such as paint hardness, the owners expectations, condition, etc.. What a lot of people don't realize is how much time it takes to do it right.

It is not uncommon for me to spend more than 40 hours on a complete paint correction. What many people don't know is that there is "detailing" and then there is "paint correction". Detailing is more of a maintenance type detail, where paint correction is when the paint is completely releveled and restructured to perfection. It is a very long and extensive process, but the results can be pretty amazing. Paint correction is something that lasts a very long time, depending on how careful the person is while washing it, etc.. Most detailers, body shops and dealers use glazes and products loaded with silicones/polymers/oils which temporarily hide the defects until the products wears off only a few weeks later. I don't use any fillers or glazes at all. There is definitely a huge difference in both results and price between a basic detail and an extensive paint correction.

Just the prep alone, before any polishing was done, took about 5 hours. As BrenM3 stated, materials and shop costs has to be taken out of every job before I make a dollar. My overhead alone was well over $100, so in reality, I'm not making much $$ as some people may think. I try to do the best work possible for a price that is fair to the customer. I understand that this type of service is not for everyone, but in the end, you really get what you pay for. To answer the question, I usually try to get about $40/hour depending on the job. Considering that good mechanics and body shops get anywhere from $75 and up, I think it is a pretty good value.

Here are a few pictures to show what the car looked like upon arrival so you can see why it takes so long...

You do amazing work Rick, and I can say that without having seen the car in person. Sounds like you do much, much more for the customer than you need to, and it shows in the results.
