View Full Version : *Artcar* My next hood... idea

I am fully capable of making a decision on my own but just thought I would throw this out there...
I am taking off my art hood and keeping it for special occasions/shows/or selling (not sure yet). I am looking for my next hood and don't know what look I want to go with yet.
I was thinking of keeping the clean look and getting a Tiag painted M3 hood. I also thought about getting a carbon hood (vented or smooth) to go with the carbon trunk / black roof theme. I'm wanting something a little easier to keep up with and not so "HEY LOOK AT ME" for around town http://forum.e46fanatics.com/images/smilies/icon20.gif.
Can someone photoshop these pics with a tiag painted hood and with a carbon hood (vents and no vents)?
Here are some pics of carbon vented hoods for you P-shopers

I really like the E92 M3 style hood for the E46. VIS makes them.
Heres one a member did, but using the OEM m3 hood. Same Style.

what if you taped off the cf in designs and sprayed over it ti silver.. negative space would be carbon fiber.. screw toning your style down. no one else rides like you do. go big or go home. f the haters.

I need to tone it down, I am getting a new job and my clients/workers will see my car and I don't want the comments and thoughts that I'm not profesional. Two tone carbon/silver is different than , "I drew on my car with a marker" . HAHA
could someone use the pics in this thread (Link) to Photoshop the hood on my car?

I like the third one you posted, as well as the e92 m3 replica hood. I don't like the ones with vents really.
Will you make me a hood? I fucking love yours. :)

While I can certainly understand and respect this point, I feel like you're not giving yourself enough credit.
It's not exactly like you just "drew on your car with a marker" It's a freaking work of art, and frankly [depending on what kind of clients you have/what business you're in] MOST people will think it's REALLY cool, regardless of how different it is. I say stick with the art hood.

Wont be an art car without the hood. I also say leave it as is.

Agreed. It'll look like most other e46s if you just have a carbon trunk and hood.
That is, unless you get a white/silver sharpie and do it all over again. :)

I understand where you're coming from about driving it to work and taking clients out. I don't know what kind of job you have so maybe it isn't really appropriate but stil...
Your hood really is a work of art, not some kid drawing with a Sharpie. I think it fits your style and if your job is at all art/graphics related then I'm sure your clients would appreciate it. Either way, get a new hood if you want but keep the "art" hood so you can rock it every now and then.

yea i'm in the medical field so its not as reviered as if I was in the art/design field. I am just looking for an "Alternative" hood for daily use. Someone made this Pshop for me... what do you all think? can someone paint this one silver so I can see how a painted hood will look?

Another idea would be to keep the hood and add some black into a few coats of clear. You could then go as dark as you want and keep it as a unique art car. To most people it would just look like your running the 2 tone black and silver theme.

good idea in theory but I cannot sand the art to spray it with clear (tinted or not). I think i'm going to go with the VRS design with the carbon bulge and paint the rest tiag. I'm really digging the clean style on that

That's it, I'm doing that with my 335i. Buying a vorsteiner hood and paying spdu4ia to fly in and do it up..:stickoutt

makes me think a great look for your car would be cf version of this hood with the white grid part painted body color. the cf darker color will flow the window and flow with the car how the roof and trunk is darker as well. i think a bulge would look good too but with it painted along the body lines it would give it a better look in my opinion

Like this? But without the vents (decided against those). I think I still like just the bulge carbon and the whole hood painted for my purpose of the cleaner look.

no way man are you serious!??
If someone that you are working with asks about your hood (which they will) they will ask where did you get that done? and you will be, I'm also an artist and I like to draw and he will be like that is very impressive it looks professional! (or maybe professionally done)
Either way man, that thing is sick and you should definitely rock it!!

So could you please tell me how it's not professional? I'm sure a doctor could sport a maxima, let alone an e46 with a badass hood that he did himself.
Plus, I'm sure sharpie art or carbon fibre doesnt make much of a difference to your clients.....

I just think that a two tone (carbon and silver) is more "mainstream" and not as "in your face" as sharpie art. It is a personal choice... the same reason I wear long sleeves at work to cover my tattoos. Just because most people don't care and wouldn't say anything you just never know, and don't want to be profiled by people who have yet to meet me in this aspect of life (work). On my own time I couldn't care less.

I guess, I just don't see the hood bearing any negative connotations, if anything you will be admired for it like you are here. But if you want to change it go ahead, I just don't think there is a possibly cooler hood for the e46, especially the way yours is set up.
