So the car is getting a rim job soon. :shifty
And seeing as I'm broke from doing my suspension... and from everything else (college) are these rims ok?

No, they are not OK, they are ASA ! :D
But why?
Is there a problem with the rim? Or is this the usual BF.c shit where no body likes anything except the $3k BBS set?
They look fine in my opinion... but is there something wrong structurally?

In my opinion they look good. But only you can decide whether you like them or not. I think you shoud look for photos, where are athers E36 with asa and decide what to do.

they look alright...I just don't like the ASA brand. There are better quality wheels for the same price.

There's nothing wrong with them structurally, so to speak. If you're going to buy cheap wheels, they're really not that bad...
As for only liking $3k BBS wheels, you're gonna find a bunch of people who get upset and say that's all that the "rest of us" like, but I'll tell you first hand that that's not the case.
Quality wheels are what is important. Quality, legitimacy, and a level of class are what I look for in a wheel. ASAs I don't find to be very pretty, they're heavy and cast, and they just don't do anything for me.
They are licensed by BBS, so take that for what its worth. The only reason I wouldn't run them on my car is aesthetics.
If it were me, I'd pass on the wheels- but its your car, do what you want.

The second ones aren't actually that bad. I've seen the first ones too many times on E36s, they never look quite right though.

i have never thought ASA was too bad. obv a cheaper wheel in price and you always get what you pay for. I personally like their 5 spoke model better than both of those on an e36.

Cheap wheels bend easily and cause huge headaches when you need to find a replacement and they are discontinued after 1 year....

ASAs are nice wheels -- good quality and a good price. I prefer the silver-painted one and generally dislike any black/machined wheels.

ASAs have been around a good while, especially the style of the top wheel. I don't see that one being discontinued in the near future.

this made me lol :)
OP, buy them if you like them :dunno
ASA's specifically the ones you are looking at are junk. They bend, almost as if its what they were meant to do, especially if you're getting anything 17" or larger. I wouldn't get them...

I don't like the wheels sharp edges (only one pic is working). I think the ar1s look better.

nothing THAT wrong with them.... But I probably paid just a little more for my used LM's... in my opinion if you are patient you can buy used better quality both aesthetically and actual better quality.

I personally think ASA is a decent brand for affordable wheels. They share the same BBS style which is a plus for me.
Instead of just bashing ASA, what brand would y'all recommend and stick within ASA's price range?

Multispoke:
bbs lm replicas
CSL replicas
Kosei K1's if you want something lightweight.
m3 OEM wheels
All good options.

there are multiple brands that make good wheels, the beauty of the used market is you'll be able to get them at 1/2 to 1/3 of what they cost new.
ASA's specifically the ones you are looking at are junk. They bend, almost as if its what they were meant to do, especially if you're getting anything 17" or larger. I wouldn't get them...
Had a set of the blacked out 18"'s on my first 330 and what is noted above is accurate. I thought BBS backing ASA was a good thing, but one mere encounter with a pot hole changed all of that. My uncle still has a set of the silver, but is looking to replace them because each of the passenger side rims are dented... They look cool, but don't pass the structural mustard if your doing anything beyond posing. Forged costs a ton, but it's truly worth the investment.

chuck1356: All wheels bend, none are indestructible. I have had inexpensive wheels on my S6, my wife bent one ------ had to replace it. I have a set of three pc. forged wheels on my X5, I bent one ----- not easy to replace or fix. I bet if the centercaps on the wheels you posted said BBS, HRE, or DPE people would go ducking fonuts over them. What if your pockets are not large? Are you forced to rock stockies because some kat living in his parents basement and spending all his cash on some quality (i.e. expensive) wheels is doing so?
Most of you guys here are going to school and don't need to bust ya pockets on wheels. We would all love to run three pc. Forgiatos, but most cant. I take it you just want an upgrade from the stocks, right? The ASAs are find.

This was one of those people I was talking about.
As I said, it has nothing to do with any factor except thinking the wheels are ugly.

I have ASA AR2's on my car and I love them. Many people here bash ASA's. some because they aren't BBS therefore no wheel is worthy, other because they hate replicas, or because they think they look bad.
I love my wheels and for the incredibly cheap price i bought an almost brand new set (4 wheels, 4 brand new Goodyear F1 tires for $650) i couldn't have gotten better...
I personally think that you shouldn't care what anyone else thinks but yourself. If you like them on your car, and you think they look good. Buy them. Its that simple. If you find used set of these you can get them for like $350-400...I'm pretty sure if you posted a pic of BBS RS-GT which look extremely similar except for color, and polished lip, people would go ape shit over them. Its's your car, do what you want...
Just for Comparison

Still don't understand the pure hatred that this wheel has. The top one does look like a BBS wheel. Sure it is a 'replica/fake/whatever' but damn it looks just fine.
How can something that is in the same style family as any of the other Y spoke designs garner so much hatred?

buy em there awesome wheels :D
Just want to be clear that I am not in the hatred crowd. I had the wheels in question. They looked good to me, and still do. They suffered a significant dent when I hit what I considered an insignificant pot-hole... I live in NE where the roads are horrible, so I now leave it on stock wheels or go forged for more insurance. If you can't afford to go forged, go ahead with the ASA's, but be mindful of being gentle with them.

Used.
Yeah... do your research and go w/ some good used wheels, IMO.
OE wheels aren't to be shunned either, but its all in the look you are going for.
