So im planning to upgrade my suspension soon. and i've been trying to do a little research.

My plan eventually is to run my car in time attacks and do some autoxing in the future. really get the best out of driving the car. However im stuck in making a decision at what strut shock spring combo to get (or coilovers).

Im looking at spending just about 900 on adjustable konis all around with h&r springs, about 724 for bilstien/h&r setup......or the 737 for the nex coilover setup.

What would be my best bet?

i know nex is new out there and quality wise its getting good reviews. but from the looks of it, people haven't said anything about track use. and im not all about slamming my car to the ground. I also don't like the idea of having to cut the strut housings(DO YOU HAVE TO DO THAT FOR THEM TO WORK PROPERLY?)

I just want a fairly stiff ride dd that i can use also at the track on occasion.

koni's and H&R's would be a good track combo.

From what I've heard you don't have to cut the strut housing for coilovers, but to go low you do. Also for sporty applications, ground control coilovers would be your best bet.

ground control was my initial choice but almost 1600 is not any where near my budget at the moment.

those may come later

does anybody know spring rates for H&r's vs nex's setup?

Im not sure what rates NEX uses, but H&R is the stiffest spring you can get without getting coilovers. Thats what i have.

H&R with Bilstein Sports or Koni adjustables should work excellent for your aplication. Since you live in Phoenix, we can meet up and you can see how my e34 handles with H&R/Bilstein sport combo

You don't want to go low for track applications anyway. Slightly lower than stock is good. Too much lower and your roll moment arm gets longer and the camber curves go nuts. You'll rarely see a truly slammed race car unless its suspension mounting points were moved.

Can you swap springs into and out of the NEX or GC's easily? That's what you want out of a coil over for the track.

H&Rs are the best handling of the sport street springs, but they're still progressively wound which you do feel a bit.

thanks guys. i was pulling more towards the koni/HR setup ($900) but wasn't sure where exactly to go because of the price verses paying the $737 (which sounds like a good deal to me) for the nex coilover kit.

anyone know if the NEX setup uses stiffer springs than H&R?

Do you run your car out here, like at PIR or firebird much mikemx?? I've been wanting to run out at NASA events.I've never tracked any car before, some of my friends do, and it looks hella fun!
