What I want to know is how the hell a meteorite can go several times the sound of speed, make a crater right the hell in the ground, and yet only brush up against you and give you a paper cut sized wound.

Of course you DO realize that being hit by a meteorite makes him both extremely lucky and fairly wealthy. Meteorites usually sell for a good deal of money, one that actually struck a person has got to be worth a ton.



The crazy thing is that this story actually made the news!

Because why? The odds against something like this happening are astronomical (pun) so it's fairly newsworthy when it happens.
