ATE for $169.89

FEBI (they say it's for a 530i) for $50.99

I ordered the FEBI one, but the guy from bimmerspecialist is telling me i got the wrong part. Since it's not the same slave cylinder (i think the diameter is different), would it still work on my 540i? I believe it would work since the system is the same for all manual e34 right? I just want to make sure, anyone know the answer?

Depending on the motor, the transmission would be different. For example, the m20 and m50 do not share transmissions, driveshafts, or slave cylinders because the transmissions are different. Pedal assemblys are the same and master cylinders as well ( i believe) but the hoses/lines/slave cylinder are all different depending on year (89-92,92-94,95 525i) because of the different transmissions.

Im sure its similar with the 540, and 530.

D=26,99MM for the 540i

I don't even know what D is for(diameter?)?
I really don't want to pay 3x the price for the 540i slave cylinder!
Will the 530i slave cylinder work?

There is obviously a reason they are different. Go right the first time so you're not redoing things.

since the clutch master cylinder is the same i thought there wouldn't be any differences in the slave cylinder! Even when looking on pelicanparts it give me the 530i slave cylinder for the 540i...

Edit2 : i think i found the answer. the 530i use a 5 speed (i thought it was a 6 spd like the 540i)! So i have no choice but to buy the slave cylinder for the 540i only.
