e34 exhaust interchangeable? pls advise

Mine has a leak. It's a 91 535i and wondering if a 93 540i exhaust would work. pls advise and sorry if this has been discussed before. Tnx!

540 uses bigger pipe than 535/530/525. The difference in those systems is usually in the length of the pipe before the resonator, as they all have different length cats. Cut/weld is possible, but factory flange mating could be difficult.
