an m5.

"I probably have the fastest car in Florida":rolleyes

But once he starts pulling away, you can hear and feel the power, even at a distance. A part-time mechanic in his native Poland before he signed his first NBA contract, Gortat has made myriad modifications to the car that now includes an 800 horsepower engine, which is big even for a high-performance vehicle, and plenty of supercharged accessories. It makes the Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Magic general manager Otis Smith (http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Otis+Smith/) sound quiet.

"It could go over 200 mph, maybe 225 mph. I don't want to drive that fast, but what matters is how quick it goes from 0-60."
- Marcin Gortat
"It could go over 200 mph, maybe 225 mph,'' he said. "I don't want to drive that fast, but what matters is how quick it goes from 0-60. I can pull up next to a Ferrari or Lamborghini at a light, look over, and they might start laughing. But when it turns green, I'm gone, waiting at the next light when they get there, and I'm the one laughing then.''

Gortat admittedly has been stopped and ticketed a few times by law enforcement on the streets of Central Florida, yet he still has a valid driver's license. He usually gets only warnings now. His status as a Magic player in a one-sport town doesn't hurt. And neither does his disarming, personable nature. He is a likeable guy, well known around town.

"I shake my head every time I see him pulling away,'' said one Seminole County (Fla) police officer who did not want his name being used. "We all know who he is. But it's hard not to like him.''

Gortat is in the second year of his original NBA contract, paying him $711,000 this season. He often marvels at the fleet of cars owned by star center Dwight Howard (http://www.fanhouse.com/tag/Dwight+Howard/) – who is in the midst of an $80 million contract -- and the two joke about who has the fastest car.

Every time he pulls away from the Magic's practice facility or the arena, Gortat revs up the engine, reveling in the attention it brings him. He is happy to offer you a test ride as a passenger, or a chance to sit in the driver's seat and step on the accelerator just to feel the power.

"Dwight has a $300,000 car with 600 horsepower. I have a $150,000 car with 800 horsepower,'' he said. "Mine is like an airplane. It's something I've always wanted. I probably have the fastest car in Florida, maybe in the NBA.''

It's an M5. There's big blocks out there and twin turbo FGT's and Lambo's that'll dust him out there.

Ya.. cuz spec engines in NASCAR are 5.0L quad cam V10's... lol.

That's a pretty awesome car. Sure, maybe its not *the* fastest but throwing 800 horses under the hood of a bimmer is no easy task.

And if you read the article, its not. Its supercharged among other things, putting out 800hp.

But we wouldn't have the audacity to claim that we have the fastest car in anything bigger than a small town. It's the pompous attitude that's the problem.

Dude, you actually think he knows what he's talking about? Did you hear what he said?

"I have the fastest car in Florida"
"It is like a Nascar engine"

Why would:

"It has 800hp" be any different? :rolleyes

Look at the pic in the article...car looks completely stock. And I don't know of anyone that's getting 800hp out of an M5. He probably has an intake and exhaust/tune.

The M5 ISNT stock. I was at a Magic game and waited to see the players roll and and that exhaust is nowhere near stock. Sounds almost like the Evosport exhaust but not exactly sure.

for all the haters out there.....

I have personal knowledge of this car. This car IS NOT stock. You can actually hear it coming from blocks away. It is VERY loud, but not an annoying fart can loud. It actually sounds like an F1 car or something. Sounds really sweet.

800hp in an M5. Are there any on this forum? Maybe there is, but I want to see proof of it.

The car is absolutely amazing and yes, you all would kill to have the car. Take your e-ego's home.

an 800HP M5 would smoke most stock Ferrari's and Lambo's. believe it.

He may have gotten a little ahead of himself with the "fastest car in FL" claim, but give the guy credit. It's one sweet ass car. He is very passionate about that car and I am sure got a little excited. Big deal...

Fyi - he said probably. Can be taken two ways.... He "might" have the fastest car, or it's pretty damn close if it isn't the fastest.

That in no way was him claiming to have the fastest car.

Damn guys, we get it, the guy got a little ahead of himself ... it's not the fastest car in Florida, Orlando or even his subdivision ...

It's still a very fast f*ckin' car. Most of you would kill to have half that power in your car, yet you're trying to crack jokes about the guy being proud of his ... I really don't get this forum sometimes.

"supercharged accessories," guaranteed, is the wording of the journalist. Obviously the dude's foreign and has vocabulary issues. Shit, I know my Polish isn't very good for one. 800 hp M5 is fucking silly, I'd do terrible, unspeakable things for that.
