Went to sacramento, got some more parts for the 5 speed swap, almost done gathering the main components.

I figure ill dye the vinyl to match my interior untill i find a wood surround.

The crossmember is from an m20 tranny, so I dont know if it will fit correct, but it bolts up with the rubber mounts correctly so I will have to wait and see.

Also, is the linkage on the 1989 525i trannys the same as the 1993? or would it be different? on real oem the part numbers are different, but just wanted to check anyways.

If anyone interested in the lights LMK! if not ill keep em =]

And of course. pictures!

Man, you are jackpotting the junkyards lately. Keep it going. I like progress. I'm dying for some time and luck to have my car progress as well.

You need

Tranny,
Shift linkage and lever
manual driveshaft
pedal assembly
flywheel
clutch
pressure plate
master cylinder
slave cylinder
Shift surround
Nuts and bolts and hydraulic lines to put it all together

so far I have spent roughly 350 and im looking at a little more than 650 after I buy the clutch master, slave, and driveshaft

well im on my summer vacation so aside from my part time job, this is what i do!

I have visited 3/5 local pull it yourself yards and got the tranny from one, all the parts i got today from another, and the third had nothing. so 2 for 3 isnt bad at all!

Im going to check the other two tomorrow and HOPEFULLY will have luck with a driveshaft. but I guess ill find out tomorrow!

not picture worthy...hasn't even been washed yet and it needs compounding badly.

I smoked the front bumperlights and the rear VW, fixed all the problems, converted all the $15-$25 VW only dash lights to LED, debadged the ugly jetta logo, and am teaching the wife to drive stick in it. It's hers, not mine.
