the trunk lock actuator doesn't work on my '95 530, the only thing it'll do is lock the rest of the car if i turn the key on the trunk; it won't unlock the rest of the car or function at all if I turn the key in one of the door locks. Is there anything I should try before I buy a new actuator?
Where is it located. Mine seems to have the same symptoms.. but i couldn't locate it when I looked at the latch area.

There is an actuator in the right inside of the trunk behind the jack. I believe thats for the gas cap. Look below the tail lights (possible) or behind the plastic right below the car side of the lock. I don't know if thats removable, but if so I'd think its there. Fairly positive it isn't in the trunk lid.

it's inside the trunk lid, about a foot to the right of the latch and a little left from the keyhole. it's a real pain to get to, the only access is from ports in the sheet metal on either side.

Check all the wiring as well over on the left side by the trunk lid arm, I thought mine went bad on my 94/530 and it was the wiring that went bad because of all the bending when opening the lid. Take the plastic cover off and you'll see a bundle of wires and inspect them all really good, this could be the cause. Just my .2!

thanks for the tip, turns there are 2 broken wires in that harness. I won't be able to fix them for a while so I won't know for sure if theyre causing that exact problem, but regardless I want to fix them, whatever they do.
might still need that actuator though, I'll let you know.

Wish I;d have seen this before I left for bavarian.. I just came home with a New one for $70.00. I just checked the wires and taped up everything that needed it ..
My remote locking system still isn't working though so even though locking the Trunk will lock the doors it doesn't respond to the key remote still.. I'll have to get a meter and start testing things... and if it turns out my Trunk Actuator was good after all and Bavarian won't take this oen back even though I didn't install it I too will have one for sale though a but North of $10,lol..
