Talk to Michelle and Ed at Applied laser solutions. They're out of danbury,ct. I used to work for them, operating their machines. The cnc laser is huge! But I know Ed loves to do jobs like what your explaining, plus they are bmw enthusiasts. PM for #.

I do. How much stuff are you lookin to cut? Prototype or something you're planning on bringing to production?
More a prototype right now, maybe production if its worth it.

hmm. you think applied can cut me a skid plate? i wanna go absurdly low in my LS400 and i feel that once i do so, i'll be cracking oil pans left and right.

What thickness and material? If its sheet metal nah we don't do that but if its like decent thickness we can CNC it.

Yup. Skid plates are basic stuff. The steps consist of
1.design it(.dxf)
2.cut it(laser)
3.bend it(press brake)
4.debur it(if needed)
5.paint(optional)
6.install

Just remember, putting a skid plate below the car makes the car that much lower. Skid plates don't compress well so what you end up with is a metal plate that conveniently pushes up into other things. I too am considering one, but you have to remember that its not meant to whack on the street, its meant to give you a warning you're about to whack something on the street.

Hum, Will what are you doing?
Well, to be honest ive been contemplating an intake manifold, NA power and turbo , so using a cnc base plate that I can manufacture at my shop I would have two bolt on plenums to that, so I can use a large one for now and a smaller more suited for turbo later on if my wife lets me lol. I have been trying to find someone to weld me up a manifold as well, but i may go the route of HPF and cnc machine one in my shop and bolt it together like the plate design they use. It would be a top mount and beafy as could be. The sheet metal laser cutting I would supply dwg or dxf files and have them made then shipped to me and have a friend of mine weld them up together. I would make the plenum base with round stacks so that they could use the same factory couplers and just use the factory air horns. The base would have a bolt pattern and a stepped seal that I would seal with a high temp silicone gasket. Not my perfect plan as everytime I want to change I would have to wait for the gasket to set but right now I dont mind.

yep. i drive in an area that usually has a lot of low and high elevated points in the road. its there basically to let me know if i'm getting close to hitting my oil pan.

You can send me the dxf file and I can get a quote for you. PM me for my work e-mail if interested. We do welding also so I could have that done too if you wanted.
