will an engine from a 93 525i fit in a 92?

I found an engine for my car for 300 dollars at a junkyard but i think the car is a 93 and mine is a 92. I think the 93 has vanos and my 92 does not so im not sure. is it possible with modification?

Change wiring harness and ecu.

what is wrong with your engine? If your head is still good you can swap it onto the '93 and have a non-vanos engine.
