I just picked up a 1990 535i 5 speed. The car has the interior from a 1995 540i sport. Here is a picture:

The drivers seat currently has no power. The harness that comes from the car does not match up to the seat (DUH).
Any ideas on how to splice power into the 540i seats so I can have the power functions working?

Good luck with it...search for MacR's posts and see if he posted anything about mine.
I went through the same thing and he solved my issue.

Damn, I really need to move the seat forward. My legs aren't long enough.
does anyone have a diagram that shows what pins (on the 540i sport seat module, underneath the seat) that need power and ground so I can temporarily move the seal forward?

ground is big brown wire, orange/brown is for the power adjustments
p/s: Do you want to trade your front seats? I have regular(comfort) seats that are same color; just giving you a suggestion in case you get tired of 540i sport seats.

Well, I pulled the seat out and I still couldn't even get the motors to move when I tried to manually jump the motors.
I guess my next step is to buy the correct harness directly from the dealer, as there is no hope in finding a harness in a junk yard.
I'm going to hold onto these for a little while longer to see if I can make them work. If I cant get them to work, I may try some Recaros. Who knows.

What you have there is the most desirable seats for the e34. I think that it would be fairly hard to find used wire harnesses for those seats. Stealership will be your best bet. I have a set in black that I have had in storage for like 5 years. One day I will buy a car to wrap around those pretty seats. Keep searching for the answer to this, I know it has been covered a bunch.

MacR sent me the links for two previous seat swaps. I believe my car originally came with just power comfort seats. No memory and no heat.
I think I'll I need to do is find a harness from a seat that has both power and memory and then I can splice the appropriate wires to make the power functions work.
In all honesty, I could care less about the memory and heat functions. I have them in my both of my e24's and I've never used them. I just really need to get the seat forward for driving purposes.
Many thanks to all those who have helped me. I'm so glad to be out of that e36 and into this car.

Update: I ordered a harness that comes from a car with memory and power. From the threads that have been made already, I believe I can make this harness work with some splicing so I have power.

As I'm sure Mac said, we didn't have to buy a harness for mine...I want to see if your memory, power bolster, and heat if you have it.
Wire up heat if you can...heat > memory, even in SoCal.

This car is in Maryland, the e24's are in Socal.
What options did your car originally have?
All mine had was power. No memory or heat.

Same options as yours, just power (9/95 build as well)
You want that heat, trust me. Even on a 65 degree morning those butt warmers are SO nice.
I'm curious if you can get memory working. If the sport seats didn't have a thigh bolster that needed power we probably could have done memory. The buttons are still there, just no power to it.

The vaders in my old e36 had them but I never used it.
I just really need to seat forward a couple more inches.
Ok, The supplier asked me if I wanted a memory/power harness from a 89, 90 or 92.
Shouldn't make a difference right?
