Hey guys,

I just got the build sheet for my car and there's a couple of options listed that I'm not too sure about. Can anyone help out?

686 DIVERSITY-FUNCTION AERIAL

961 SPECIAL ENGINE

Really interested in that "special engine" I have.

IIRC

686 DIVERSITY-FUNCTION AERIAL:

it's a dual antenna, that's all I can find....

961 SPECIAL ENGINE:

alusil engine. means they were already aware of the nakasil problem and were putting the correct blocks in at the factory

I wasn't aware the M52 had the Nikasil problem, I thought that was just the M60?

maybe they only shipped the US models with the alusil and the Euro kept the nakasil...... so they had to designate the difference on the build sheet? I really couldn't tell you, but that info I found was from more than one source from a google search.... ::shrugs::

The M52 did, in fact, have the Nikasil problem overseas, especially in Britain, where there was a similar reaction with the sulfur in the fuel. Many cars came back with the same problems that M60-based cars had.

However, the U.S. market never received Nikasil-based M52s.

They couldn't have. The US M52 had a cast Iron block, not an Aluminum one like the rest of the world.

That could very well be it though, it's "special" in that it's Iron, unlike the rest of the world.
