Hey!
I've been wanting to connect my 30gb ipod in my 528i but I really dont want to install a dice kit. Also I heard the fm transmitters and cassette adapters suck. Is there a different way I can hook up my ipod? Like an aux connection?
Thanks :)

Yes...search auxiliary.
I think its only certain model CD players will work w/ the BMW aux kit.
Theres a few people that did a custom made aux w/ a tape deck and soldered some stuff up.

Well I have the bmw business tape deck and a cd changer in the back. I kinda want to just splice into the audio cables in the tape deck and connect a jack to them. But would I always have to have a cassette in to listen? Because when I press cassette, it displays no cassette and goes back to cd or radio.
has anyone done this?

I have the Sony tape adapter and I think it works awfully well - the price was right at $9 shipped on eBay (there are a million knockoffs listed under "Sony" though, so beware).

how long have you had it? I've read reviews that they get noisy after a couple months

Not long, but I'm guessing if you leave it in the tape deck all the time it wears out. I only leave it in when I'm using it it.

you can clean the contact head on the adapter and it should be good as new.

I've been using the same cassette adapter for over a year now, and it works like brand new. Keeping in mind that its out of the cassette player when not in use. /2cents

I can't do that because i have a 1999. intravee isn't compatible with cars prior to 02 unless you have a nav.

:lol Ask me how i know he's not lying.
Since you've got the same model, xisco is your best bet. he knows exactly what he's doing with your model.
another clean option is to do like i did. spend less than $200 on a business CD player from e-bay with a mfg date of 9/02 or later. from there, you can get the oem aux cable for about $35. when you're done, you'll have the single cd player in the front, the changer in the rear, radio and auxiliary. it's more expensive than xisco's setup though.
