how much does this cost to do? I think its one of the coolest things you can do on a silver e39.. the tourings pull it up real nicely though

cost was about 300 dollors ,,200 euros ,its finshed in piano black i love it looks good thanks for the comment.:)

ive never seen an e39 with a black roof that i dont like... and i love yours... Picture number 4 is certainly the winner though :).... and why the M badge...:nono

I think the wheels are really nice in my opinion, but not on an e39. I'd love to see those in a 22 inch version on a 300C in black :D.

haha, so much hating on the M badge. that black roof looks sick, a little more style and flavor, nice touch. the wheels are too much for me, takes away from how serious it looks in my opinion.

hi the are 10" rears running 285/25/zr 20"
8.5" up front 245/30/zr 20" standred e39 5x120 et 25 offset had slight rubbing had to get rear arche inner lip slightly rolled ,, lowerd 40 mm all round. hope this helps

added pic of wheels in black ...at the time they werent in production so i opted for the silver ,i like them because they are differnt ,was thinking of getting them painted stil dont know yet.....

New pics ....taken today with some irish moutain views enjoy i just gotten the roof painted and added a carbon fibre boot spolier.and carbon fibre on the 6 pice door pillers..

More close up pics of the roof, especially near the pillars please. I want to see this a little more. Also, why is the "T" insert in the front bumper not painted? Just kind of sitting there all plain looking....:confused

imo the black roof thing works because it gives a lot of flow and direction to the windows, it connects them and makes the windows all look like one part flowing front to rear... i know your kidding about a silver roof but if someone were to actually do that it would be awful. UNLESS they had really reflective tint to match the silver :rolleyes

but nice car man I am really digging it, what wheels are those? that lip is killer is it a titanium lip? looks that way judging by the reflections, either way props I love the car as it is. if it were mine though I would take those badges off, that car would look really clean debadged

That looks really amazing. My car is similar to yours in silver, but it's my hood that needs paint, not the roof.

it works well on silver ...the lip is called a blazed lip...it is a stinless steel lip heat treated ..as far i am aware ...

That looks really amazing. My car is similar to yours in silver, but it's my hood that needs paint, not the roof.

How about a Piano Black hood?

i am not going to tell you what to do ,but some of my last post had some photo shoping done and i think it looked good !!! but each to there own..

I wanted to do something similar to this. I've been planning either a sunroof delete and then painting the whole roof black, or attempting to do a glass roof.

I think the glass roof would work on the bases that the sheet metal that is the roof actually has no structure. It is just sheet metal. The actual frame is built around the roof. Though I do worry about twisting. Such as going around a corner too fast and frame of the car twists slightly causing the roof to shatter.

Roof looks awesome! And I like the rest of the car but those wheels do not fit IMO. I would go with something black to tie in the roof to the rest of the car...or even silver...but not the rainbow lip! It doesnt work for me...

I love the look. I will be doing mine black like that shortly. I feel that it flows especially well with having my windshield tinted 35% and the gloss black sportline trim.

If it's a fad it's a fad, but It will look good. OP's car looks great, although I'm not a fan of the shark fin.
