Hey guys, im about to order this pair of Bilstien sport shocks off of AutoPartsWarehouse.com. The price is pretty good and the only Bilstiens I can afford. I have a problem though, the "Fit Note" for the right shock states "With Motorsport Chassis", while the Left says "w/o Sport Suspension". WTF does that mean? I have BavAuto lowering springs and I wanted something that can last for a while (at LEAST 1 year until I have enough money). Can you tell me if these will at least work for my car, its a 94 325is, and its slammed.

The part number for the right is W0133-1662250
and the left is W0133-1662243.

I need info ASAP because im planning on buying them tonight. THX

Would the HDs last longer with lowering springs ? Better overall ?

HDs are for stock suspension, and sports are for use with lowering springs. Bilsteins are warrantied for life.

Kewl.. I've never been clear on that Bilstein warranty though.. If they start to sag do you get new ones ? That would mean all blown ones could just get replaced for new or what ? :shifty

I bought sport bilsteins a few weeks ago and installed them with stock springs, the only difference really is the piston length between HD's and sports, but someone posted that they have a minor difference in the valving but i'm not too sure about that.

bilstein.com/warranty.php for their warranty info

Is ride quality important to you?

you have a "slammed" car and are about to put on Bilstein Sports. Can't wait for your update...

Just went and looked at those struts myself.

I think you ordered the "touring class" ones. If you scroll down further you'll see the Sport struts shown...for $198 each.

I love the ride so far of them, when i did them i also did my front with m3 bushings, new control arms, and tierod ends so a lot of things firmed up for me. Ride quality is actually better due to the fact I found out I had bilsteins in the front and stock SACHS in the back which were blown thanks to the previous owner.

Next though are H&R race springs to drop it and firm up the suspension even more.

Yup, those are the ones I picked up. Either way, I just needed new shocks ASAP. It said sports, but I'm pretty sure its not as strong as those 198 ones. Hopefully everything turns out well.

Thx for the help you guys.

Its cool, I just now finished installing them. They ride beautifully either way. I'd prefer sports, but money isnt on our side this time. I love the ride quality, and got rid of all of the noises/problems I had. After I put a couple of miles on these shocks, ill write a review on em. Thx guys.

Ok, I just noticed that my shocks raised my car up front, so now i have fender gap :mad. After I put a couple of miles, would they lower by themself? I really really really hate fender gap, and if it doesnt drop after a couple of weeks, i might buy a newer, lower setup. thx

I'm sure they will settle eventually.. How much I don't know.. Gives you an idea of how bad your old struts were though.

^Oh yea. Dude, I found out that my PO had some sort of Billy shocks on the passenger side, and on the left they were oem shocks off of a 92 325i. My PO must not have cared about the car. The oem shock took the most beating and was a b!tch to take apart. Im just glad that its done.

Give it some time. You need to break in the shocks since they're brand new.

Ok, hopefully it drops back to the old height.

What was the previous ride height?

bimmer speeder

uh.. I couldnt really measure, but id say my front bumper was about 3-4 inches off the ground. Now its about 5-6 inches off the ground. I never used to have any fender gap, even on an uphill incline.

You probably were riding on shocks that were just really blown.
I highly doubt you will be "slammed" on lowering springs and Bilstien touring shocks.

Give it a week man.. Its not gonna go all the way down but you'll get used to it :) Hot days seem to make my car lower too so you can look forward to summer

just get a couple of fat chicks to ride with you all the time. They like BMWs

I believe the Sports were designed for (amongst other things) use with lowering springs. I have also read from many people that they have a very firm ride. Keep your current shocks for a while and if you decide to change out to sports (I suggest you drive in someone else's car that has them first), post them for sale on this forum at a huge discount (PM me first).

^ lol. Yea, I have a friend who has Billy sports, and they are really stiff. I like my ride comfort, but wish it would be lower, Oh wellz, ill wait for it to settle down.
