Hi

i have a E36 convertible and the rear tyres just keep getting worn. I have had the trailing arm bush replaced but apprently not done properly so will be getting it done again but could the problem be anythink else?

Thanks

Over what time period are they wearing down, and what is the wear pattern across the tread face? Normal wear on the rear, with suspension working properly, is to wear the inside tread first on both sides.

Check your Alignment.

Stop drifting.

But srsly, are they wearing evenly? I go through my rears faster than my fronts as well, but I have some negative camber (which I don't mind) and drive the car really hard once a month so the insides wear faster.

From what I've read, excessive tire wear in the rear comes from improper toe alignment. Improper toe is likely due to trailing arm bushings either improperly mounted or worn out. On the other hand, increased camber by itself doesn't contribute that much to tire wear.

+1 on the toe issue.
+1 on inside wear being normal.
+1 on trailing arm bushing being a probable culprit. Its a good idea to replace them/align them if your having wear issues. The E36 chassis is rather rough on the suspension components.

IME I go through front tires every 50,000km's and rear tires every 20,000km's. Thats because I have a heavy foot, making a large front vs back difference in wear.

Just checked and the driver's side rear seems ok can't really tell where its wearing but the passenger side rear is from outer edge to centre more than inside. I did have the trailing arm bush replaced and think it may not be fitted properly therefore it has messed up that wheel. I have not even had them long...few months.

Does anyone know where i can see how they fit properly and can let the mechanic know.

thanks for your help
