I'd like to toss the BFGoodrich G Force KDW2 (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW+2) in to the ring. That is the best tire I have owned. This is my 3rd year on them and I attend HPDE's and drive in a *spirited* manor on the road....ask Sgt Terry, MD State Trooper :devillook

I just ran through a set of the Ventus. Good tire, would buy again but they do wear fairly quickly. Great set for HPDEs.
I replaced them with General UHP, have only about 100 miles on them so far. I have them for daily driving and will buy another set for HPDEs. They have a great ride, are quiet, and handle great for spirited daily driving. So far so good, time will tell.
I've also had a set of Fuzions that wore well and served their purpose on the track for a DE newbie.
Good luck

only thing i didnt like about my kdw's were is that they get loud after 10k miles
+1 for KDW2s if you don't care about road noise.

Take a look at the just released (at least in the US, it's been out in Japan for a while) Bridgestone RE-11. It the replacement for the RE-01R. I just got a set but haven't had enough miles to give a full report, but read the reviews out there. The price is reasonable. It's a better tire than the Michelin Pilot PS2 but less expensive.

~Phili heard these have uneven wear problems, but aside from that how was the sidewall flex?

i have fuzions right now and i hate them they look horrible (huge looking sidewall) and dont grip very well

(loved them) but money is tight nowadays, so i cant justify spending $270 a tire
What about the yokohama S. drives

I have used and abused these tires. I run about 40psi hot and get enough flex to heat them up clear to the traction marker (little arrow).

They do wear out fast, I really like the grip though, and the price.

The RE-11s are great, and they are wearing better than my RE-01Rs were around the same mileage.

I currently run Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45/17 on a 540. I absolutely LOVE them. And they do last quite a while.

I would stay away from the generals. They seemed good, when i really hadnt had a good tire. My buddy has kumho XS's, my brother and I have the RE-01's, and the generals just dont compare.
As a street tire, they are great. You cant beat the price, they have good wet traction. They just arnt a good dry tire, and the sidewalls are very weak.
