Hello everyone I am new to the forum and I am looking for some help with parts. I am in the USAF and currently stationed in Germany. I bought a 1991 520I and I need to replace the front shocks. The shocks over here cost 200.00 Euro each which is like $250.00 pretty expensive. I was wondering if anyone knew if the parts might be compatable with the U.S. 525. Please let me know if you can help.

I'm sure they're the same and go Bilstein. You need to find what the top nut size is, 19mm or 22mm. Should be easy to find in a search.

Thank you for serving. As denton said, shocks should be the same. If you run into trouble with mounting there has been alot of threads lately about changing the mounts between the three types used in the E34. As far as motor parts I'm not sure anything will change. Everything interior/exterior except block and head houd swap around easily.
Other than engine and some electrics, I assume lots of parts wold interchange. Isn't the 520i is relatively common in Europe?

Hey guys thanks for the inputs. the 520I is very popular over here and you would think that the parts would be cheaper but they are not. I found parts for the 525 at autozone.com for as cheap as $69.00 each. I will check on the top nut size. It has been my pleasure to serve our nation.
thanks
Geo
