I have a 2006 BMW (First few E90's purchased in May of 2005), 6 months ago back left window regulator was not working (reason....car was broken into and shame on myself for leaving Laptop, Camera and few DVD's and the guy got everything from the car....left me with stupid pieces to clean up and got help from the park management with a Trash cover :) ......., i had 500 deductible and Geico said they would not cover for the lost things......and BMW said it would be 600+ to fix it.....after losing so many thing.....i was not in a position to get BMW to fix it,.....i went to the local place got it fixed for 250).............first few days the window was working fine then regular broke....got it fixed under warranty........but my warranty expired on 2/3/2009 and my other regulator (back left) is not working......BMW is saying it is appox 350-400 for parts and labor........i want to fix the regulator myself.....not sure how big of a deal it is......any help with the steps would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Note: I live in South Florida and cost of labor is 200/hour.....guess not even my CEO makes that much.

I apologize for the long email.......but i think it is because of the freaking heat the regulators are giving up.....i know its cold in Germany....but they need to think about 80+ degrees too........

If you are just a week out of warranty, talk to your service manager, they can probably get it done under warranty as goodwill.

there should be about a month of goodwill I think on the part of BMW or the dealer to allow for something that really happened before the warranty expired.

Or you can take it to a normal mechanic and have them fix it. It's just a door/switch/window.

But if it's just out of warranty they should really offer to get it passed under warranty for you.

and maybe look into an aftermarket warranty.
